Description

Snorkel with leopard sharks in a place that's unlike anywhere else in Southern California. Explore the shallow waters, kelp reefs, sandy flats, and sand dollar beds off La Jolla's coast to find these and other marine creatures such as lobsters, rays, guitar fish, and even the occasional sea turtle.

Just off the white sands of the coast of La Jolla is your opportunity to swim among schools of leopard sharks, a completely harmless, slender-bodied, spotted species of houndshark that deftly slithers and feeds along the ocean floor and among the kelp. When the water here is warmed by the spring weather, these fascinating sharks—most often found in bays and estuaries—gather to feed and breed in the shallow waters just offshore.

With a naturalist and biologist as your guide, you can also identify a wide variety of other marine life and swim to ocean pockets where sea life exists that you might not find on your own. Venture out to the kelp reefs to snorkel with various fish, lobsters, and maybe even a green sea turtle. In the sandy flats and sand dollar beds, watch for the aptly named shovel-nose guitar fish—which can grow up to 5 feet (1.5 m) long.

Staff was great! Very friendly and informative, great for anyone that has never been snorkeling. Best to go in summer. We saw a few leopard sharks and various other fish.

Wasn't what I expected because it wasn't an actual option. Expedia had it posted as an activity and I got a call a day before the already confirmed (by Expedia) and paid for activity was scheduled, saying that it wasn't an activity that was in season. Expedia messed up and I wasn't refunded for their error. Not happy
