Discover the Roman Aqueduct of Peña Cortada and Chelva’s Summer River Walk
Join us for an unforgettable summer adventure along one of Valencia’s most spectacular walking routes—where ancient history meets refreshing nature.
We begin our journey in the charming whitewashed town of Chelva, setting off early to complete the sunniest section first. Our path leads us to the awe-inspiring Peña Cortada Roman aqueduct, a 2,000-year-old engineering marvel with dramatic cliff-side views and a series of hand-carved tunnels you can walk through—an experience you won’t forget.
From there, we descend into a lush river valley toward the village of Calles, where we’ll enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch by the riverbank. Thanks to the wet spring, the river is full with some nice cascades
The return leg follows the scenic riverside trail, leading us gently back to Chelva through olive groves and forested paths. We'll wind down with a refreshing drink in Chelva’s picturesque main square, soaking in the atmosphere of this historic town
