Description

The South Shore of Chicago is bursting with cultural institutions, history, and beauty. Board a comfortable coach to take in the many sights along the southern lakefront such as Grant Park, Museum Campus, and the South Commons.

Start your tour off cruising by Grant Park—fondly known as the front lawn of the city. See Alder Planetarium, Soldier Field—where the Chicago Bears play—and the Joseph Petrillo outdoor band-shell—a great place to catch a free concert on a warm summer night. Also on the south end is the Art Institute of Chicago, world-renowned for the largest collection of impressionistic art, and the Orchestra Hall, home of the famous Chicago Symphony.

Next, you ride inland through the South Commons and picturesque Jackson Park, where the Colombian Exposition of 1893 was held to celebrate the founding of America 400 years earlier. Pass through the streets that make up the University of Chicago, with its elegant English-style architecture, and cruise by the expansive Museum of Science and Industry. Finally, before you head back north, get a look at the world’s highest apartment building, Lake Point Towers, a building of glass and curves, adjacent to Navy Pier.
