Description

The essential intro to Portland and the best way to explore the city. Guests hop on well-traveled bike lanes stopping to admire the views of downtown, the Willamette River and the city’s many bridges, while riding along the waterfront past the brick and cast iron fronted buildings of Old Town built in the 19th and early 20th century.

Next the tour heads into Chinatown where the streets once teemed with immigrants from all over the world. From there, it rolls through the Pearl District where turn-of-the-century warehouses have been turned into art galleries, shops and restaurants surrounded by soaring glass residences. The tour stops at several of the Pearl’s most interesting places!

Guests will pass Henry Weinhard’s 140 year old brewery and a fortress-like armory turned theater before pointing the handlebars south to downtown. The tour cruises past a number of the guides' favorite food carts before entering the South Park Blocks – separated from the North blocks by a century of legal battles. It pedals through Oregon’s largest university then turns downhill to the waterfront and the Willamette River, lifeblood of the city and state. Finally guests ride downriver on car-free paths before coming full circle back where the tour started, perfectly energized.

I wrote a review on Yelp as well...in a nutshell, Kieran, our guide, did a fabulous job making sure we were all comfortable. We stopped periodically while he gave us interesting information. The bikes were smooth-shifting and comfortable. This was an excellent way to get a taste of Portland's downtown!
