Pros: Nice vehicle, guide called the day before to confirm pick up, showed up on time, and spoke English. Overall initial communication was good. Cons: Guide provided didn’t know much about the caves. I had done my own research before going and wanted to see and learn more about the history I read online. I ended up knowing more than the guide. Service in the area was bad, so I wasn’t able to pull up history of Caves I was interested in seeing. I recommend reading up on your own and taking screen shots and guide yourself. I paid for 7 people almost $400 USD. If I would have arranged a driver for the day through my hotel it would have cost me only $50 USD for a SUV/Van. I recommend arranging a self tour. Hire a driver for the day who speak English. Should only cost at max 8,000 rupees on the high end for 8 hours/80km. Tips: Go early to avoid heat and tourists. It gets hot and there are a lot of stairs you have to take in order to see all the caves. Take plenty of bottled water and hand sanitizer as services lack up there. Don’t carry food, saw monkeys chase and steal food from tourists (the monkeys are little gangsters, cute, but they own it, and they know it). This is a must see but go self guided. Park is very close to the city. Was only 30 mins drive from Westin.

Our guide was exceedingly knowledgeable and first-rate. Moreover, when I pointed out an aspect of one of the carvings that he had overlooked (and Buddhist art is an area of my expertise), he graciously accepted my interpretation.
