What you can expect
Head to Ko Tao (Turtle Island) for some of the best snorkeling in Thailand. This area is sheltered from wind and waves, which makes it the perfect spot for beginners and seasoned snorkelers looking for pristine waters to explore. Spend a day diving at 2 unique locations around the island.
Your morning starts when a driver conveniently picks you up from your hotel in an air-conditioned minibus and takes you to the dock. Board the Mintra catamaran and find a comfortable seat on the front of the boat, in the saloon, atop the flying bridge, or on the spacious sun deck. Enjoy an onboard breakfast, taking in majestic views of the shimmering waters of the Gulf of Thailand as you set off for Ko Tao. Along the way, your guide provides a safety briefing and introduces you to the equipment and techniques you are going to use throughout the day.
Gear up, take a deep breath, and dive in. Swim above colorful coral reefs, dodging the stingrays, seahorses, and moray eels that call this area home. The sea is so abundant that you are bound to catch sight of one of your favorite aquatic animals, such as sharks, barracudas, nudibranchs, groupers, or turtles. Whether you end up snorkeling at Japanese Gardens, Mango Bay, Hin Wong Bay, Lighthouse Bay, or Ao Leuk, you are bound to find translucent water and vibrant marine life.
Before your second dive, step back on the boat to munch on some fruit and take a big drink of water, and then jump back in to explore even more of the underwater world. Venture down to depths of 40–60 feet (12–18 m) and discover the wonders of these warm waters. After your 2 dives, indulge in a delectable lunch of Thai favorites as your boat makes its way back to shore.
