Once you enter the valley, you’ll want to have your camera ready as you’ll have the chance explore the area around to Hjalparfoss waterfall and you will certainly want to capture the beauty of this picturesque waterfall.

Hnausapollur Crater Lake

After exploring Hjalparfoss waterfall you’ll continue on your journey to Landmannalaugar and make your first stop in the highlands at Hnausapollur crater lake. The lake’s still waters, surrounded by vegetation and black and red volcanic pumice makes for an extraordinary sight.

Landmannalaugar - The Pearl of the Highlands

You will know you’re arriving at Landmannalaugar by the array of colours in the rock formations and dramatic displays of the light on the mountains. After taking a moment to really enjoy the magnificent view and take photos to your heart’s content, you’ll have the option to go on a 2 hour guided hike into the surrounding hills and enjoy a relaxing dip in a natural hot spring. On the way back to Reykjavik you will pass Mount Hekla, one of Iceland’s most infamous volcanoes.
