What you can expect
Learn the subtle art of winetasting as a local vin expert shows you how it's done. In the heart of Lanquedoc, France's largest grape-growing region, put your senses to the test during a fun, hands-on workshop that shows you how to appreciate the many nuances in a fine glass of wine.
Make your way to the Hôtel Prime and meet your instructor, who worked as an agronomist specializing in both viticulture—the science of vine-growing and grape-harvesting—and oenology, the study of wine itself. First, discover what oenology is all about, learning how to recognize the subtleties of different types of wine and gaining the vocabulary to describe what your senses perceive.
Next, put what you've learned into action as you walk through the artful process of tasting of 5 different locally made wines. Your instructor leads you in fun olfactory games, giving you the chance to practice identifying different aromas and flavors. At the end of the lesson, leave with a deeper appreciation for the art of winetasting, on your way to becoming a vin connoisseur.
