After an early breakfast at the lodge, we visited a coca plantation to learn about its history and value in the local culture. Afterwards, we explore a rescue center where we will take a close look at animals such as jungle condors, toucans and monkeys. Continue to the village of Atalaya, where we started a tour of the Madre de Dios River. The route offers incredible scenery and direct contact with the jungle. Upon arrival at the lodge, we settled in and enjoyed a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we visit Lake Machuwasi, ideal for seeing alligators, capybaras and birds like the hoatzin. We stroll on a wooden raft and climb to an observatory with spectacular views. After dark, we set out on an exciting hike to find nocturnal animals. We returned to the lodge for dinner and rest.

We started the day very early to visit the parrot collpa, a unique place where you will see these birds gathered eating mineral-rich clay. The show of colors and sounds is something you won’t forget. After a good breakfast at the lodge, we set out on the river tour back to Watchtower. From there, we continue in our private minivan to Cusco. Along the way we cross again the cloud forest, with its green landscapes and mysterious haze. We stop in Ajanaco for lunch and then continue the return journey. Arrival in Cusco is scheduled around 5:00 p.m., with minds full of memories of this jungle adventure.
