You’ll sit grill-side with a bilingual guide and a professional okonomiyaki chef, learning how this layered, savory pancake became a local staple. Choose from four different versions, including meat, seafood, vegetarian, and a gluten-free option (available by request). If you want to try your hand at cooking, the chef will guide you step by step. This is a small group experience at a real local restaurant, not a tourist trap, and you’ll leave full, happy, and maybe just a little proud of your creation. Osaka’s okonomiyaki gets a lot of love, but Hiroshima’s version does things its own way. We meet conveniently at the fountain next to the Atomic Bomb Dome. From there, we’ll take a short ride on Hiroshima’s historic tram system to the okonomiyaki restaurant. After the main event, many guests enjoy a picturesque stroll along the river back to the Peace Memorial Park area, or your guide can direct you to the nearest tram station for easy transit throughout Hiroshima.
