Description

Wind through Lisbon's hillside quarter of Alfama, home to a charming maze of narrow streets and 2,500 years' worth of cultural influences. Admire the Roman and Moorish architecture of the area, learn about fado music, and hear about the Jewish persecutions at Restauradores Square.

Meet your guide at Comércio Square and follow the narrow cobblestone streets into one of the 7 hills of the city—Alfama. Go back in time and admire the different buildings portraying the Romans and Moors who once lived here. Continue as you listen about the fado culture, a Portuguese music style that was born here.

Next, see the beautiful Lisbon Cathedral, built in 1150, and marvel at its mix of Romanesque, Baroque, and Gothic architecture. Your last stop is Casa dos Bicos, a house built in the 16th century, where you can admire its curious façade in Renaissance and Manueline style.
