We had an AMAZING time learning about the history on katanas and how they were forged. Sensei was a very good teacher and we LOVED every minute!!! Our English interpreter Jean-François was also great at translating and really understood the forging process having gone through it himself. One of our best experiences in Japan thus far!! Definitely a must, you won’t regret it.

Altough the instructions on how to arrive the place were very accurate I couldn't find a single taxi for over 2 hours to reach the destination to actually do the experience. So I couldn't get there... Big no no for me

It was awesome! The most authentic Japanese activity we could imagine. Very informative and interesting the whole time. And our translator, jean francois, was also amazing. He knew it all already and made everything seamless. Highly recommend this!

The most truly Japanese experience I've had in Kyoto or Tokyo. Sensei Masahiro's forge experience was as enlightening as it was grounded, including history, philosophy and metalwork. The 'Kogatana' or short Katana shown in pictures is exactly what I forged. That said, Sensei Masahiro guided every step and cleaned up my work.

English translation was not too great. Felt I had to encourage the translator to do the translations, did leave with the feeling we missed out on a lot of the discussion.
