Discover the mystical beauty of the Empty Quarter Desert (Rub Al Khali) — the largest continuous sand desert on Earth — on this unforgettable Sunset Desert Safari from Salalah.
Your adventure begins in the afternoon with pickup from your hotel or resort in Salalah. Travel in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle as you leave the lush Dhofar mountains behind and head towards the vast desert.
The first stop is the Frankincense Park of Wadi Dawkah, a UNESCO site. You can see the natural wonder (Frankincense trees) all around.
Along the way, you’ll pass through Thumrait, a historical Bedouin settlement that marks the gateway to the Rub Al Khali.
Optional stop: Visit Ubar Archeological Site - The Atlantis of the Sand - the remains of what people say is the lost city and a very important historical site. Entrance Ticket is not included. Pay on site.
See the black camels in the desert, a unique species of the desert camel. Take a photo with them and if you are lucky you will see the young camel, born few months back.
As you enter the endless sea of golden dunes, your expert driver-guide will take you on an exhilarating dune bashing experience — an adventure full of fun, skill, and excitement! You’ll stop for photos on the highest dunes, where the views stretch endlessly in every direction.
As the sun begins to set, climb to the top of a dune to witness a truly magical sight — the sun setting over the red sands of the Empty Quarter. The sky transforms into shades of gold, orange, and purple, creating one of the most breathtaking scenes in Oman.
Optional Dinner: You can also choose to enhance your experience with an optional dinner in the desert, served in authentic Bedouin style under a starlit sky — a perfect way to end your day in this remote paradise. Additional Cost
Optional camel riding in the desert is offered. Additional Cost
After the sunset and optional dinner, relax on your journey back to Salalah, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel in the evening.
