Description

Delve into the underwater world of the Bahamas, exploring marine movie sets, eerie sunken wrecks, and vibrant coral reefs teeming with tropical sea life on this guided snorkeling excursion.

After being picked up from your hotel, head to the docks – you may recognize this secluded cove as the set of the movie Flipper – and step aboard the Zambezi, a custom-built vessel designed specifically for snorkeling. Lounge on the upper sun deck as you skim across the waves to a beautiful shallow reef. Get acquainted with your snorkeling gear then slide into the water off the back of the boat. Swim leisurely over gently waving sea fans, flitting schools of colorful fish, and elaborate coral formations as you admire this serene marine realm.

Climb back on the boat and make your way out to your second destination. Depending on visibility and conditions, your captain will opt for either another shallow reef or a sunken wreck—the sandy seabed off the Bahamian coast is dotted with the ghostly skeletons of ships and airplanes. Swim up close to the wreckage of a small aircraft to spy timid moray eels and bright fish poking out of windows and crevices in the wreckage.

Finally, cruise out to your third and most daring destination to experience the thrill of snorkeling with Caribbean reef sharks. Observe these magnificent predators of the deep from the safety of the surface as they swarm around a bait box lowered down below you before your return trip to shore.

This excursion was excellent! It was very well organized and they were very mindful of everyone’s safety. The snorkeling and sharks were above our expectations. I highly recommend this group and this trip.

This is a timeline more for people visiting on a cruise ship!! Reviews of the dive sites are pretty well documented on other reviews. First thing to know, is the time, its not three hours! There is pick up and drop off at the hotels and port to consider. This could be really important if you're on a cruise like I was (you CAN'T take the noon trip and expect to make it back in time for departure). I fortunately took the 8am trip. 8:15- a bus picked us up from the fountain outside of the port. Then we went to four or five hotels and picked up other travelers 9:00- we made it to the docks, took about 30 minutes to do the check in and load everyone on board. 10:00ish- we made it out to our first site 12:30ish- we made it back to the docks, waited for a little bit and left 1:15- we were back at the port, due mostly to the dive company splitting up the group and bringing the cruise passengers back separately
