Description

Great scenery, steep cliffs, and natural splendor drift by as you float the Colorado River on this gentle guided rafting adventure. Learn the history of the Grand Canyon as the river carries you for 15.5 miles (25 km) between the stunning canyon walls.

Sit back and admire the amazing scenery of Grand Canyon National Park, the Navajo Nation, and the Painted Desert as a luxury motorcoach or van takes you to the Glen Canyon Dam. Descend through the 2-mile-long (3.2-km) access tunnel to the bottom of the dam, where your rafting trip begins.

Get your sea legs ready as you move from riding the roads to riding the river on a motorized 15- to 22-passenger river raft. As you float the mighty Colorado River, keep your eyes open for the many species of wildlife that inhabit the Grand Canyon, including golden eagles, horned toads, and bighorn sheep.

Your experienced guide tells you the history of the canyon, its importance to current society and stories about its people as you glide past the Navajo sandstone cliffs. About halfway through the trip, go ashore for a short hike to view petroglyphs carved into the canyon wall by ancient native inhabitants.
