The distillery was founded in 1824 by George Smith as a legal distillery, making it perhaps the first licensed one in that area of the Highlands. Glenlivet is one of the most widely recognised single malt Scotch brands internationally. The GlenAllachie Distillery

However, under new leadership since 2017, GlenAllachie has shifted focus to producing exceptional single malt Scotch whiskies.
