He will introduce you to the fascinating world of volcanic phenomena, walking through ancient woods, extinct craters and old lava flows (usually the Sartorius craters or the 2002 crater on the Northeast side of Etna).
Deserts of lava and ashes, peculiar lava formations, traces of the most impressive eruptions: this is the unique landscape you'll discover in the Northeast side of the volcano.
During the excursions you will reach a maximum altitude of 2000 meters (area of expertise of our guides).
You will explore a volcanic cave (for example Grotta dei Ladroni or Grotta Cassone), we will provide you with the necessary equipment (helmets and torches).
Our guide will lead you where nature remains uncontaminated to admire different kind of plants and animals.
Lunch and wine tasting: At lunch we will stop in a winery in a town at the feet of the Etna Volcano. You will enjoy a genuine and typical Sicilian lunch made of fresh products. Every dishes will be paired with Mount Etna DOC wines.
After lunch, you will visit the Alcantara canyons, formed thousands of years ago thanks to a lava flow that invaded the bed of the Alcantara river. The crash between the river’s extremely cold water and the incandescent lava created one of the most spectacular scenarios in nature. In the Alcantara river you can bathe, we remind you to bring your swimsuit and beach shoes/water shoes.
The journey can endure little variations due specific needs of the group and/or weather conditions and/or closing days of the Alcantara tourist park.
Youn will be back in Catania at around 6.00/6.30 p.m. You will be dropped off in the same place where you have been picked up. (Unless special requests in advance)
