Sunamachi Ginza Food & Drink Walking Tour

by Japan Wonder Travel.com Duration 3h 30m Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is $81

Soak up the energy, flavors, and dynamic atmosphere of Sunamachi Ginza, one of Tokyo's most vibrant shopping streets. Rub elbows with the locals as you pop between family-run shops and small eateries, sipping on tea and sake and sampling savory bites like yakitori and tempura.

Meet up with your guide and set out on foot into the colorful hustle and bustle of Sunamachi Ginza. While large supermarkets have replaced many of Japan's locally owned businesses, this is one pocket of the city where tiny storefronts and family-operated restaurants still thrive. See locals running errands, chatting with shopkeepers, and swapping stories with neighbors as you experience daily life in Tokyo up close.

As you explore, make stops at different kitchens to try an array of flavorful Japanese specialties. Bite into crisp, panko-battered tempura shrimp and vegetables, tangy inari zushi (vinegar rice wrapped in deep-fried tofu), and hot yakitori, grilled chicken skewers. Wash down oden (hot pot) and fried and minced tuna cutlet with delicately flavored sake, and wrap up your culinary excursion on a sweet note with fragrant Japanese tea and desserts.

We enjoyed our adventure very much. Originally, there was supposed to be 2 other people, making it 6 people altogether which, we think would have been a bit more of a challenge. There was so much to take in that hearing the guide would have been a challenge amongst the narrow street and the amount of people, we were the perfect size. Our guide planned ahead by providing bottled water, a description card and wet wipes for our hands. The food was incredibly tasty and I doubt that we would have had the opportunity to taste the food we did otherwise....num num num
