Breathe in the fresh air as you travel south towards the Slovakian border to the mountain resort of Zakopane, nestled at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. Enjoy spectacular views over the resort famed for its excellent winter sports facilities, summer hiking, glacial valleys, and waterfalls.
Your first stop upon arrival in Zakopane is the funicular railway, taking you all the way to the top of Mt. Gubalówka. From its peak you get splendid views over the dramatic granite peaks of the Tatra Mountains and the resort below.
Once back in the foothills of the mountains, wander on to the oldest part of the town of Zakopane and explore the cottages that bear the distinctive architectural style of the region, inspired by folk traditions and pioneered by Stanislaw Witkiewicz. Enjoy strolling through Zakopane’s buzzing town center before visiting either the Tatra Museum or the 19th-century wooden village of Chocholow, then head back to your hotel in Krakow.
