Immerse yourself on an authentic cultural and whale watching adventure through the Salish Sea to the historic First Nation village site of Aupe. Your journey aboard custom landing craft vessels with inside and outside seating provides unobstructed views of whales (Qʷ̓ənɛs), eagles (Q̓aykʷ) and much more. Arrive in Aupe and step off the boat into the rich history of the Xwémalhkwu (Homalco) on an enlightening walk around the former village.
Throughout the ocean voyage you will be watching for some of the most majestic sea animals in the world including orcas, humpbacks, dolphins and sea lions. At Aupe lucky visitors may even see the resident black bear (Mɛxaɬ), while your Homalco guide shares traditional stories, language and legends. You’ll get hands-on with cedar bark (Taχəmay) while learning to weave your own cedar bracelet.
Curious adventurers are invited to learn about the Indigenous peoples of Canada’s West coast while whale watching and enjoying stunning coastal scenery. It’s family-friendly for ages 10+ and packed full of information and fun.
