Description

Be dazzled by the Vinicunca Mountain, also known as Rainbow Mountain, on this full-day adventure through the Peruvian Andes to the amazing spot. Follow an expert guide through breathtaking landscapes to a natural rainbow painted across the mountain ridges, a one-of-a-kind sight.

Start your day with an early-morning hotel pickup and drive to the trailhead at Cusipata. Begin your hike from an elevation of 14,189 feet (4,326 m) above sea level with an experienced guide. Your hike takes you through small villages and past fields dotted with alpaca and llama herds. The beautiful, snow-topped Ausangate Mountain stays in sight as you climb, providing a gorgeous backdrop for your journey.

Break for lunch over views of neatly organized potato fields and unique mountain flora. As you finish eating and resume your trek, keep an eye out for native fauna like chinchillas and wild vicuñas roaming the area. After hiking through the pristine mountain trails, you're at last rewarded with the breathtaking wonder of Vinicunca Mountain, whose slopes are striped with distinct shades of purple, yellow, red, and green. A natural phenomenon caused by a great saturation of minerals, the literal rainbow in the mountain is a sight like no other.

Take your time exploring the area and capturing the one-of-a-kind vista in photos. Once you've gotten your fill of the amazing mountain, make the trek back to the trailhead and end your day with a ride back to your hotel.

Overall a very good experience! We started the day with an early 3:50am departure and then made our way to the “Montana” restaurant for a basic breakfast. From here we headed to Rainbow Mountain. After breakfast the road turned to dirt and it was a bit of a rough 45 minute ride to the trailhead. From here our great guide Paqo motivated the group and we were off to the top. It snowed the evening before so parts of the trail were very very slippery from the snow and ice so be sure to check the weather and wear appropriate clothing and shoes! It took us around 3-4 hours round trip and then we headed back to Montana for a buffet lunch and then back to Cusco. Great value overall and the tour guide Paqo did a great job!

Valeu a pena! A vista da montanha é incrível. O único ponto negativo foi o motorista da van. São 3horas de Cusco até a montanha e o motorista fez ultrapassagens arriscadas o tempo todo.
