The excursion to Usiacurí will take you to this Colombian town, famous for its healing waters and for the poet Julio Flórez. You will also visit the town of Galapa.
Itinerary
We will pick you up from your hotel in Barranquilla at 9:00 a.m. and head south through the Atlántico department.
After a 30-minute drive, we will make a stop in the town of Galapa. In this small municipality, you will have the opportunity to see how local artisans handcraft the traditional masks used in the Barranquilla Carnival. You will love it.
We will then continue our journey to Usiacurí, a charming town located in a spectacular setting surrounded by lush hills. Once there, we will enjoy a guided tour of its historic center, traveling back in time as we walk through its colorful streets.
We will learn about one of Usiacurí’s most famous figures, the poet Julio Flórez, who moved to this part of Colombia attracted by its medicinal waters. During our walk, we will visit the writer’s house-museum, where he passed away in 1923.
Before leaving, we will visit the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán and stop by the iraca palm handicraft shops, where you will have time to purchase souvenirs.
Finally, we will return to your hotel in Barranquilla, with arrival scheduled for around 2:00 p.m.
