What you can expect

This combo gives you the best of both wildlife and an educational exhibition - join a whale watching tour to see the whales in their natural environment, and then head to the Whales of Iceland Exhibition to see just how large these marine giants are!

Before or after your whale watching tour you can stop by Whales of Iceland on the other side of the harbour to get a feeling for how small we humans are compared to the cetaceans around us.

Whales of Iceland is the largest whale exhibition in Europe and features 23 life-size models of all whale species that have been found in Icelandic waters. When you arrive, grab an audio-guide (available in 12+ langauges) to learn even more about the different species in the exhibition. Make sure to check out the latest addition: The Fin Whale Room. This room highlights the various threats (and their solutions) that whales face today, and features a short documentary.

On the whale watching tours you will set sail from Reykjavik's Old Harbour and head out into Faxafloi Bay in search of whales. The four most common species that we encounter are humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins, minke whales and harbour porpoises. Your expert guide will tell you all about the wildlife and surrounding area before we head back to the city.

The departure time you select is for your whale watching tour, and your entry into Whales of Iceland can be used before or after your tour - it's up to you!
