Know before you book

  • The maximum number of participants is 10. In case that you are a group of 10 people, you should contact us.
  • The forest where the truffle hunting takes part is accessible to any age group.
  • The tour does not provide transport so you must drive to the museum from the truffle hunting or you can book i advanced a taxi for the whole duration, which will be approximately from 30 to 40 euros.
  • The tour begins and ends at the Museum of Mushrooms in Kalabaka.
  • Printed or mobile voucher accepted.

What you can expect

You will take part in a once in a lifetime experience below Meteora, in the fringes of Pindos mountains.

The meeting point is the Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum. Take your car or a taxi to follow the truffle hunting crew. Enjoy some hours walking through the woods, searching rare species of truffles along with a special guide, the truffle hunter and his specially trained dogs. Meanwhile, you will collect information about the species of truffles that exist there and learn how they can be used.After picking the truffle,this unique fruit of Greek nature,you can taste a delicious lunch of pasta with fresh truffle, which is accompanied by a glass of local wine.The truffle pasta dish will be cooked by an expert chef, right in front of you ,who uses an impressive cooking pan in order to cook ,up to 50 servings!

After the end of truffle hunting,you will return to the Museum and you will be guided around both the Natural History Museum and the unique Mushroom Museum,where you can see more than 350 species of animals and about 250 kinds of mushrooms.After the completed guided tour, you will enjoy a mushroom tasting,including 5 different kinds of mushroom products and taste the traditional dessert made by mushroom which is a Greek innovation.Finally ,you can choose unique gifts among 60 different traditional mushroom and truffle products created by the Museum.
