The B & B is beautifully restored and we could not ask for a more accomodating staff. Don, was welcoming from the time we arrived to our departure. Breakfasts were incredible and were healthy as well consisting of seasonal fruit and many whole grain items. Our room was a little small but they do have larger rooms available and when we return I would opt for one of the larger rooms. It is also a bit of a drive back to Bar Harbor (about 20 minutes) We did however do some exploring in the area surrounding the B & B and found it to be just as charming as Bar Harbor and at a much more leisurely pace. Great stay!

This inn is across the street from the free shuttles that take you to other parts of Acadia (did I see an L.L. Bean trolley out there?). It is next door to the Abbe Museum and across the street from the Reel Time Pizza Theater where you can watch a current movie while sitting on a couch, eating pizza and drinking a beer/wine. Next door is the Cafe This Way with an excellent and laid back breakfast and the rest of town is a just a block away. The room was large enough with a private bathroom/shower and there was a balcony to sit out on at the end of the hall. There was always coffee and tea available near the check-in desk and parking/internet were free (harder and harder to find these days!). I enjoyed walking across the street and exploring the old cemetery with graves dating back to the early 1800's. There was a glass carafe of water with fresh lemons to greet me at the front porch and, at night, there was a friendly fire in the outdoor fireplace with chairs around it. You could sit and watch the rest of the tourists drive by and some of the locals walk by with their dogs. The owner was cordial and helpful. My engine light came on and he recommended me to a mechanic that addressed the problem in a matter of minutes for only a few dollars and a great conversation. It pays to stay with someone who was born and raised in the area. I loved this place and will return again. But next year, I am bringing my whole family!

This place is not the easiest to find. You will see the bakery and restaurant sign and that is the place. Check in and out can be a bit awkward as you do this in the bakery. Parking is on the side of the place but it must be entered through the back street. This place is not for the physically challenged. There are about 32 steps from the back parking area and 21 from the street level. The suites are clean and neat. A very nice place to stay.

We had a room overlooking the water. It was nice to be able to be close. It was raining the weekend we stayed so it was foggy in the mornings. We ate at the hotel the first night. The food was tasty and well prepared. The wait staff seemed to be shorthanded - only one bartender doing everything so it was a bit slow in service. But he did a good job of trying to keep everyone happy. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful and good with lots of choices. The second morning we decided to order off the menu and the food was great. The hotel is just down the road from the park entrance so it was very convenient to do the things we came to do.

We only got to stay one night but it was very nice. The building dates back to 1883 but has been kept in great shape or renovated to still be in excellent condition. We visited in October but in the summer it looks like there are tennis courts and a swimming pool as well as an azalea garden within easy walking distance.

This was our third stay here, and it delivered excellent service for us once again. We love parking once and walking everywhere in Bar Harbor. We enjoy sitting on our balcony and watching people on the shore path. This was our first time on the first floor, but it was as quiet as our previous stays on the second floor. It costs an arm and a leg, but we think it is worth every cent.
