Could not find fault with the room or service and the free tea,coffee,cake, croissants in reception was very nice although personally I missed having a kettle in the room. "Hotel Excelsior splendid is an older hotel that is in good shape however the rooms are somewhat dated. Breakfast was good however it was somewhat spoiled by the large amount of flies. The location is excellent. It is right on all of the piers, one minute and any of the piers there are other hotels in the area, one of them an expensive, five star hotel, also there is a hotel that has been abandoned next to the facility. "The check in was in the middle of the restaurant area and very hard to find. I stayed 4 nights and it was on the 3rd day I could walk into the right door and find the lift without too much trouble. There is no signage for the front door, no direction to the reception desk, and no tourist information. I would not recommend this as my choice to stay in Locarno."
