An uncomfortable stay

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: It's location to the casino.
Cons: Do not allow animals to stay where people have to sleep and eat. Also, for future bookings, inform us whether the hotel is animal friendly or not.
Location: Very close to the casino and souvenir shops.
The first room we stayed in had visibly stained carpet, animal and smoke odors, which was supposed to be a smoke-free room. The second room was better. We later found out that it was an animal friendly hotel.

Not what I expected at all

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Give the room normal things that most hotels in this price range have. Coffee maker, iron, good blankets, hot breakfast, fridge, etc.
Location: Casino, Rafting, Hiking, Smokey Mountain National Park. Those were lots of fun.
I had never stayed at a Microtel before and now I never will again. I stay in hotels every month for my job and seldom spend more than $100 a night. Typically Hampton Inns, Fairfield Inns, Sleep Inns, Doubletree, and sometimes Residence Inns - Marriott. None of these hotels are $140 a night and they come with a lot of amenities such as a coffee maker, iron, hot breakfast, good blankets, large rooms, good amount of desk space,a microwave, a mini-fridge, etc. You know, simple things that most any hotel over $80 a night has in there rooms. Microtel had none of these. The breakfast was just danishes and cereal. This was a very disappointing stay for the price just because it was nearby a casino. This is the last time I base a hotel selection on price. My mistake. Lesson Learned.

The whole place smelled like cigarettes. The carpet was discussing. The shuttle driver was nice though.

Very disappointing

Pros: They provided shuttle service to casino.
Cons: Breakfast. Get a generator, if rain knocks out power, they said it happens often... then have a back up plan for the entire hotel.
Location: Located near Harrah's Casino, arbys McDonald's taco bell and food lion next door.
We checked in around 4:30 pm about an hour later the power went out of one half of the hotel. The power was out for about 3 hours. With no explanation. The staff couldnt explain what happened. Later they said a rain storm caused the damage. first mountain experience just wasnt what I expected, took a shower and was attacked by the shower rod and curtain. Was given a handicapped room. I didnt need that and there may have been guests that could have used that. The shuttle service was great. The driver was very polite and gave good pointers on local restaurants. Overall. Not a bad trip, but to have traveled so far I expect better. No refrigerator or microwave in the room either. The ad said walking distance to casino. NOT!!!!! Breakfast was not good!

not what I expected

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: Parking
Cons: too many things to mention.
Location: close to the Casino
check in time 3:00, they said it would be 30 or 40 minutes, they were running late. We sat at a table in front of where the breakfast was served. It was NASTY.Flys all over the place. We sat there 35 minutes, got to our room ,no refrigerator, no microwave like I was told it had. We were on the ground floor so if you opened the curtain you were looking at where the dogs went to the bathroom.(pet friendly Hotel) The people in the room next to us had a dog that barked all the time.

When we arrived they didn't have our reservation right so we had to stay at another hotel the first night. The second night when we finally got our room the air conditioner didn't work in the room. The rooms were very small and outdated with a smell to them. I will NEVER stay there again.

Very clean

Pros: very clean room and hotel, friendly staff Cons: Wifi wasn't strong enough to be used by any of our devices. Breakfast could be great if there were plates and napkins. Sausage gravy was like white water.
