“Fota Island Resort Jan 2012”

From the moment we arrived at Fota train station for the start of our stay the hotel satff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating towards us...As we don't drive we utilised the Cork to Cobh train as our means of getting to the hotel...We assumed the station at Fota would be close enough to the hotel to either walk,find a bus or even a cab to the hotel but we found Fota station to be no more than a stop for the wildlife park which would be a solid 3mile walk on a road with no pavement to the hotel...Thankfully there was a very helpful gentleman working at the wildlife park who told us the hotel can arrange a pick up for us from there or the previous station at Glounthaune...I'd adivse anyone travelling via the train to notify the hotel on your way or even beforehand to arrange to be collected primarily from the station at Glounthaune... As for the hotel itself,the room was comfortable,the bathroom was large and warm with great bath and shower however there were a few cosmetic issues with a missing piece of tile on the floor and a aloose tap fixture on the sink... The food on offer in the Amber Lounge was superb and great value for a 5 star hotel.. The spa,pool and gym were also top notch... The Wildlife park is only a short trip down the road and yet again the hotel were more than helpful in arranging for us to be brought by the concierge!!It's a great way to spend a few hours! All in all i'd be more than happy to return and recommend it to a friend..!

“Expensive but worth it!”

We were visiting friends for new year, and wanted to escape for a night. PROS: The Spa was lovely and the hydrotherapy suite was great - we spent 2 hours in there for 25 euros and we were very relaxed albeit a bit wrinkly by the time we left. The bedroom (King size) was fantastic the bathroom was very luxurious and the bed was soooo comfortable it is a wonder we ever woke up. CONS: Modern build means it looks like it should be sat on an industrial estate from the outside, although the grounds are lovely and inside you would not know. The hotel is actually right next to an industrial estate although we did not realise this until we left. There are 2 ways of getting to the hotel: One through the afore mentioned industrial estate or secondly via a 1 minute car ferry ride via Rochetown. If you are after a romantic stay take the ferry - you really get the impression that you are on an island and the woodland country road and old bridge that you cross to get there is very much more in keeping with the Ireland that a holiday maker would want to see. All in all a good stay and we would recomend as the pros easily outweighed the cons.

“Luxurious”

We recently stayed at the above hotel and had a very lovely time. The staff were friendly and were able to assist us with any questions we had. The only problem we had was that we stayed when 2 wedding parties had been booked on consecutive nights. We were initially placed in a room directly above the reception hall which meant we had music pounding through the floorboards for most of the night. We had to be moved in the end to get away from the noise.

“A must stay at for anyone visiting Cork.”

Without a doubt the best hotel I have stayed in.Excellent location and facilities.The restaurant was top notch, excellent food,service and agreat ambience.All of the staff went to great lengths to ensure that we felt welcome.We were very well looked after.The rooms were extremely comfortable.I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cork and will certainly look out for other Sheraton hotels in the future.

“One of the friendliest places we've stayed”

My husband and I spent a lovely weekend here. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us (and the same comment applies to the taxi drivers). My only criticism would be the driving range at the golf club as we both looked forward to having a go to be told that we had to wear golf shoes to use it!

“clean but expensive”

The room was lovely - large, clean, very comfortable and great shower but the mini-bar and restaurant were expensive and the food could not be recommended. If you are planning to base yourself near Cork city and travel around it's a great base and a fantastic location. To be fair to the hotel, it was open only 2 months when we stayed there so maybe the restaurant food is being sorted out but I'm sure the prices aren't!

“Very nice hotel”

The hotel is very clean and the staff is impressive. The rooms are clean and well kept. The food and other services the hotel has to offer are excellent but very expensive.

“Good but could be better”

Things I liked: The service, cleanliness, feel, luxury, location, food. Things I thought should be better: Service in the restaurant was poor, waited over an hour for a main course on a quiet night. Basic Spa facilities should be included with your stay for a 5 star resort. (Sauna, Jacuzzi etc all has extra costs) Lack of available treatments, the Spa is open to the public and is very busy, you do not get any preferential treatment by staying in the Hotel. We could not get a single slot on our 3 day trip. Very disappointed.
