Ireland Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

When people speak of Ireland, it often conjures up images of rolling green hills, ancient castles, rowdy but friendly pubs, and leprechauns protecting their pots of gold. While the question of whether leprechauns actually exist remains, the beauty of the Emerald Isle is no fairy tale. Many who visit this beautiful land become enamored by it.

The culture of the people of Ireland has been developing for thousands of years with records going back as far as 6,000 years. Tradition is important to the Irish, including traditional Irish music and dancing. At the heart of every town is the pub. For the Irish, pubs are not just a place to grab a pint, but they are also a place to share and experience the heart of social, cultural, and musical life with others.

The Irish have a reputation for loving to party and to hold celebrations, and this is a stereotype that the Irish embrace. The Kinsale Gourmet Festival and the Dublin Theatre Festival are great events held each year, but the Irish love any good excuse for a party.

    When to Go

When traveling to Ireland, expect rain in the spring and fall. Days during the summer are more often than not comfortably warm without being hot. It is for this reason that summer is peak tourist season on the Emerald Isles and is the most difficult time to get into the hotels in Ireland, so book in advance.

While the weather is at its harshest during the winter, the season is often the time to book a cheap Ireland hotel deal through Expedia and get rooms at special discount rates. During these months, particularly in Dublin, you can find the top prices for cheap hotel deals in Ireland.

Two major events draw a lot of people to Ireland: The St. Patrick's Day Festival takes place on March 17 in Dublin, and a smaller one takes place in Cork, though the entire island celebrates. In October, Cork holds the Cork Folk Festival, and in mid-September, you can experience the Dublin Fringe Festival. When looking for the best Ireland hotel deals and Ireland hotel packages, make reservations early, particularly if you are planning to visit Dublin.

You will find Ireland hotels to be warm, friendly places, and you will love staying in them. You may never want to leave.

    "Close to city centre"
Close to city centre and friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is in need of a bit of tlc and even though our room was on the 3rd floor you could still hear the noise from the bar and the outside smoking area. I'm sure the walkway from lift to room swayed and can only put this down to the vibrations from the music!!!

"Elegant hotel close to Trinity College"
I visited this hotel for a conference being held at Trinity College. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms, bar, restaurant and conference suite were all very plush. The food was also good, although I overheard a number of guests saying that the cost was quite high - from my experience, that's just Dublin in general though. The hotel is set within attractive gardens, about 200 m back from the road so it is nice and quiet. Although this was a business trip, I wouldn't hesitate to return with my family, despite being slightly out of the centre of Dublin.

The Westbury Hotel exterior is deceptively modern however the interior is grand and opulent. The hotel is centrally located for weekend travellers and would recommend highly. The staff are attentive and professional. Planning to return again.

Front desk staff hands down the best! Rooms could use some love and the scent of cigarettes should be removed from the room. Overall, great stay and would do it again.

    "Nice hotel outside of Galway"
Nice, comfortable & clean hotel. Enjoyed our stay but it should be noted that this hotel is not in Galway city center. It is a 10 euro cab to downtown. If you are ok with that it is a good place & a great deal.

Spent two nights here while exploring the surrounding areas (used Lally Tours, they were fantastic). The decor is a bit spartan inside, but the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lots of places to hang wet clothes. Lots of surface areas- Wood desks, dressers, nightstands, side chairs, etc.

"More hassle than expected & can hear band in room"
Lovely hotel but booking and relocating poorly organised. My booking was for 3 nights so being put into a room that the band can be heard until 01.30 I wasn't impressed with. To be moved they initially insisted that I would need to move for the first night and then need to move again on the second day. Attending a wedding in a nearby hotel the second day so checking out by 12 and in again later wasn't feasible and defeated the purpose of the 3 night stay so the trip would be relaxing. Was moved but told the second room hadn't a safe. I was not impressed. Less impressed when I stumbled across it, it did have one, there were two people in and out for an hour and still they couldn't reset it so it could be used. Then the lamps didn't work, guy came up to check but didn't bring a bulb though so had to come back and interrupt me again. The bulb didn't solve the issue, so he figured it could be the fuse. I gave up by 1 am and asked they would fix the following day. However no one showed, when I rang down she didn't know anything about it. So she came up to take a look too, when she did this she decided it was probably the fuse too but at least brought me back an adapter as the lamps have different plugs and the adapter let it work in the square plugs. These small issues could be resolved without interrupting the customer so many times due to poor communication between staff members.
