Ireland Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

When people speak of Ireland, it often conjures up images of rolling green hills, ancient castles, rowdy but friendly pubs, and leprechauns protecting their pots of gold. While the question of whether leprechauns actually exist remains, the beauty of the Emerald Isle is no fairy tale. Many who visit this beautiful land become enamored by it.

The culture of the people of Ireland has been developing for thousands of years with records going back as far as 6,000 years. Tradition is important to the Irish, including traditional Irish music and dancing. At the heart of every town is the pub. For the Irish, pubs are not just a place to grab a pint, but they are also a place to share and experience the heart of social, cultural, and musical life with others.

The Irish have a reputation for loving to party and to hold celebrations, and this is a stereotype that the Irish embrace. The Kinsale Gourmet Festival and the Dublin Theatre Festival are great events held each year, but the Irish love any good excuse for a party.

    When to Go

When traveling to Ireland, expect rain in the spring and fall. Days during the summer are more often than not comfortably warm without being hot. It is for this reason that summer is peak tourist season on the Emerald Isles and is the most difficult time to get into the hotels in Ireland, so book in advance.

While the weather is at its harshest during the winter, the season is often the time to book a cheap Ireland hotel deal through Expedia and get rooms at special discount rates. During these months, particularly in Dublin, you can find the top prices for cheap hotel deals in Ireland.

Two major events draw a lot of people to Ireland: The St. Patrick's Day Festival takes place on March 17 in Dublin, and a smaller one takes place in Cork, though the entire island celebrates. In October, Cork holds the Cork Folk Festival, and in mid-September, you can experience the Dublin Fringe Festival. When looking for the best Ireland hotel deals and Ireland hotel packages, make reservations early, particularly if you are planning to visit Dublin.

You will find Ireland hotels to be warm, friendly places, and you will love staying in them. You may never want to leave.

"All staff helpful & friendly. Lovely hotel"
We stayed for an event and were impressed with the ease of arrival by public transport from the city and the friendliness we were greeted with. Rooms spacious and well equipped (I get frustrated by things such as hair dryers tied down, no such approach here!). Helpful at breakfast - we joined a friend on a twin table and they were prompt about adding another place and it was no hassle. Knowledgeable on check out as to our transport options

    "Galway get away"
Was the cheapest in the area out of the hotels for the time of year. If I could have found somewhere cheaper I would have. Was an ok hotel. Very big and the service was effected. Had to wait over half an hour for a bar menu luckily I wasn't in a rush. Bar menu was basic. Breakfast was cold at the weekend but did improve on the monday with less guests.

    "Great hotel with wonderful staff"
This hotel is well located for views of the river and an easy walk to the shopping areas. It is very close to the bus station and a 10 minute walk to the train station, which was very convenient. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff attentive, worth the extra supplement. Staff were very helpful with looking after luggage and allowing me to print off my boarding passes. The room was large and comfortable. We enjoyed the use of the spa facilities very much. All in all, a very pleasant stay. Thank you.

    "Long weekend in Cork"
Nice hotel, very helpful staff, good food menu for families, and very good value breakfast when with kids. Only minor frustration was that the 'double sofa bed' in our family room was not really big enough for two children (age 7 and 11) to sleep comfortably. Staff were helpful in providing what we needed to make it work as best possible though as no other rooms were available.
