Take advantage of Gran Canaria’s reputation as a great place to shop. Add to your wardrobe, stock up on groceries or just enjoy the atmosphere at one of the many quirky shops and boutiques. In CITA Shopping Center and El Muelle Shopping Center there is a huge selection of wares to suit all tastes. There is more shopping fun to be found at Las Arenas Centro Comercial and Pueblo Canario.
Escape the bustling streets and browse a few of the educational and entertaining museums in Gran Canaria. Museo Diocesano de Arte Sacro and Museo Nestor are two of the area’s most interesting museum day outs. Inquiring minds will also love the Casa Museo Perez Galdos as well as the Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnologia.
To relax with locals along the coast, visit at least one of the major beaches and lookout points in Gran Canaria. Maspalomas Beach and Amadores Beach are two of the more well-known spots for sunbathing in this coastal location. Other fine beaches worth checking out are Meloneras Beach and Playa de San Agustin.
When it’s time for a break, visit some of the leafy nature retreats of the area. Two of the favorite urban parks for nature lovers are Palmitos Park and the Parque Doramas. Parque San Telmo and Parque Romano are two other pleasant scenic urban parks perfect for lazy days in the sunshine.
There’s absolutely no excuse for neglecting your swing when staying in Gran Canaria, home to a number of the most challenging holes in the area. Set aside a couple of hours and head to Maspalomas Golf Course and the well designed El Cortijo Club de Campo.
As a result of the efforts of its artistically-minded locals, Gran Canaria has some gorgeous performing arts institutes. For a memorable night out, book a ticket to the Teatro Perez Galdos and the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium.
Get active in the outdoors by planning a trip to the local natural reserves, such as Maspalomas Dunes or Huerto de las Flores. Come to these great places and try to spot the local flora and fauna, before having lunch or a drink in the reserves’ beautiful grounds.
