Nice hotel, great location

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Pros: location, friendly staff, clean rooms, homey feel, nice hot tub, continental breakfast
Cons: n/a
Location: This motel is very close to the Main Street in Gunnison. There were some cute little shops, places to eat and get a drink all in walking distance.
My husband and I wanted a nice little motel close to Main Street that was not too expensive. That is exactly what we got. Plus more. The staff (husband and wife/) were so nice. The rooms did not just feel like a motel. They did not have the normal bleach smelling white towels. They had some pretty little towels that made it feel more like home. We did not know the motel had a hot tub. What a nice surprise. It was in this cute little trolley car with windows to see the snow coming down. What a great experience.

Terrible motel

Posted Jan 6, 2014
The furnishings are very dated. Shower was not cleaned. Beds were very uncomfortable. No thermostat to control heat. Breakfast consisted of stale doughnuts and juice that tasted terreible. Avoid the Western Motel at all costs.

Average Hotel, good location

Posted Sep 5, 2013
Pros: The hotel is well kept and clean. A hot tub is available with a deposit. It is in a good location on Highway 50 and near the main street.
Part of the reason we choose this hotel was the promotion of being "pet friendly". Upon seeing our dog in our vehicle the woman working the front desk, who appeared to be the owner, began giving my husband a hard time about having a pet. She made a big deal about not having any pet friendly rooms available, wondering if we allow the dog on the bed, and generally making it appear that we were a huge inconvenience to her and she was doing a big favor by giving us a room.

It's clean.

Posted Aug 9, 2013
Pros: It was spotlessly clean. For being old there was no sign of crumbling or decay. Fresh paint.
Cons: The bed linens were cheap and synthetic.. The pillows were hard. There was a vending machine only for drinks.
Location: Gunnison is a fabulous, high-mountain location. Dos Rios is a beautiful golf course; that alone will bring us back to town.
One of the older motels on the main drag. Lots of highway noise from semi's, motorcycles, etc. Wi-Fi didn't work the second day of our stay. The owner quibbled about the reservation being held on a Visa but us wanting to pay with AmEx. Our room, a non-smoking, smelled of whatever was going on in the room below us, which I believe was the owner's residence. So it smelled of food preparation and her smoking habits.

Nice place to stay

Posted Jul 8, 2013
Pros: I was very pleased with the cleanliness and quiet and the spacious room.
Cons: It would be nice to have an outlet in the bathroom.
Location: This is a couple of blocks from the main shopping area of downtown and 60 miles from Black Canyon NP. Rafting, fishing, boating, hiking all close.
We were there for four nights during July and it was a very nice place to stay. The room was spacious, very clean, the air conditioner worked well and was not obnoxious and there was no noise from other guests. In spite of some sound from the nearby highway, it was extremely quiet and very easy to rest for this light sleeper. It is not new and if you are looking for glamour, this is not your cup of tea. It is perfect for the area. We did not use the breakfast options because of other plans, but they appeared to be just as advertised. We would stay there again and probably will next year.

Good Place For a Budget Stay

Posted Jul 1, 2013
Pros: Very good value for the money. The AC unit is quiet and works well. Quiet room.
Cons: A bit of an odor in the room. Breakfast needed some protein and fruit. Hot water for the shower was sketchy. Nothing to deter me from staying again
Very friendly greeting from the desk staff. Large clean room.

Never will stay here again.

These motel owners spoke very disparagingly about Expedia. I thought unfairly so. They were more interested in lecturing their guests rather than listening to them.
