“Low end hotel in a high end location”

The hotel was adequate. Not great, but also not expensive. Great location right along the ocean. The hotel was dated and somewhat run down but basically fine. We will probably find a different place to stay next time we are in the area.

Area recommendations

Hilton Head, SC is a beautiful place with awesome golf courses, gorgeous beaches, impressive light house and many interesting sights to see. It also has nice restaraunts and is close to Savannah, St. Simon's Island and other neat cities in the general area.

“This place is horrible”

Got there at check in time. The hotel restaurant was closed so we could not eat there. We decided to go to the room and were not impressed. Very old and dated. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Will not go back.

“Great hotel for your budget!”

This hotel is a great place to.stay if you want to stay right on the beach, for a great price. Clean. Convenient. Nice/large pool area. Would definitely recommend.

“Great view and location!”

The hotel was very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly, and our room had a beautiful ocean view even though it wasn't an ocean view room. Overall a great hotel for a great price.

“Great Location, very mediocre hotel”

The great locvation of this hotel was the reason we selected this property. The price wasn't bad, but they tack on a $10 'resort' fee, which doesn't provide the guest anything, but the right to use a lounge chair near the pool (which is public) and security since the property is 'on the beach' (which is ridiculous, since it is part of the staff at ANY hotel). The room was comfortable, but very average, there was no hot tub, and the building only has a few rooms with an ocean view. The lighting in the room was poor, and the room was very dated. I don't expect much from a Holiday Inn (kind of the McDonald's of hotels) yet I was still underwhelmed. Expensive breakfast (which you should skip) and minimal ammenites. The front desk staff that I dealt with should probably find work elsewhere that doesn't involved dealing with people. They were clearly not interested in their jobs, their employer, or really much else.

Area recommendations

Hilton Head is as charming as a Wal Mart, but it does have great beaches and nice golf courses. The shopping is good and the island has lots of restaurants. We had really good service at Kingfisher. Ask for Paul. He was honest and the food was really good. It had a decent atmosphere. Great mini golf courses.

Kingfisher was a great dinner place. Java Joes has great coffee.

“It's Ok for the location”

My sister and I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn at Hilton Head, SC. The first issue I had was that they had no shuttle to and from the airport . It cost us $75 to take a taxi. Although the hotel was clean, neat and orderly, I was a little surprised my the attitude of the front desk. The woman who checked us in was very sarcastic, and claimed she was giving us a great room. Well we had a view of the parking lot! Oh well, we didn't go to stay in our room,. The other thing that really bothered me was the fact that you had to pay for every, little thing. You weren't allowed to take the towels to the beach, but could take them to the pool. They cost $12.95 to buy. Had to rent a chair and umbrella, for $30. It just seemed like a rip off to me.

“"Satisfied except for two issues"”

Great location with access to pool, beach and Coligny Plaza. Two issues (for our family): 1. No wheelchair access to sidewalk without going out through the parking lot entrance and traveling on the street to reach the sidewalk at the circle. Very unsafe for daughter in wheelchair. Forced us to drive to Coligny Plaza (which is close enough to walk). 2. On several occasions, we could not get chairs by the pool as a number were occupied by non-hotel guests (no wrist bands). Need better policing. Note: I overheard a family telling their friends that all you have to do is to enter the hotel pool area from the beach; put towels on chairs; and spend the day between the beach and the pool.

Sea Pines (Lawton Stables - animals to pet (at no cost) plus pony rides; marina; dolphin cruise; water sports; shops; food; magician show) Savannah (park at Visitors Center - free parking when using trolley which provides narrated tour and 15 stops - can get off and on all day) Coligny Plaza (shops; magician show; dining - great pizza at the Frosty Frog) On a rainy day, young kids enjoy Indoor Playland on Rt. 278 across from Moss Creek

“Very enjoyable stay at the Holiday Inn”

The hotel is a little dated but was a clean and relaxing place to stay. The pool is in great condition and it is centrally located to many stores and the beach.

“Smokers with tattoos and piercings will love it!”

The front desk staff was terrible! They wouldn't look up at you, and spent most of their time ignoring you. Otherwise, the remaining staff was reasonably friendly, and seemed to do the job you would expect. The hotel itself is simply cleaned up grungy. Everything was just barely above the the "skeevy" level. The clientele was tatted up, nipple/lip/tongue pierced, and smokin' it up. Imagine lying in the sun with your Budweiser, breathing in secondary Marlboros, and the sound of Free Bird tearing it up...you are at the Holiday Inn Hilton Head Island. I can't say its a place for you to bring your family...if you think so, you might be a redneck. The location to the beach was superb! That would sum up my compliments. In retrospect, we should have realized that the pricing, and ability to book only 4 nights was a clear telltale. WE WON'T BE GOING BACK...EVER. I will gladly shell out a few extra hundred dollars to stay at one of the many respectable resorts on the great island.

“I love HHI and Holiday Inn”

The amenities at this Holiday Inn are great - the pool is amazing and this is a very convenient location. I can't wait to go back!
