Booking tdoesn't mean that you will get a room!!!!

Posted Mar 17, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Booking system needs to match Expedia!!!!
Location: Quite remote but good stopover point when coming off inter-island ferry & going south
Despite making Expedia booking & having confirmation, turned up to find that the owner had NOT transferred to her (presumably personal) system & so the room I reserved had been let to someone else! Totally unreliable & unprofessional. Travelling through New Zealand with many single night stays (& a four year old son in tow) this was the ONLY night that we had a problem. It simply isn't funny when you turn up in a strange place late in the day to find that you have no accommodation....and through no fault of your own The owner would not accept responsibility for HER mistake & became increasingly rude Just avoid this place - there are much nicer places in Murchison anyway - it's just not worth the risk. New Zealand is a great place & every other place we stayed was fabulous - RiverSong is an unfortunate exception

Clean & comfortable motel

Close to restaurants. Quiet with a lovely big garden to relax in. Easy to find. Great spot from which to explore Murchison and surrounds.

Pros: Overall the cottage was comfortable for the couple of nights we stayed.
Cons: Parking closer to the cottages, it was raining when we arrived and we had to carry out bags from the car which was parked closed to the road
Stayed at RiverSong Cottages with my husband and two family members from overseas. We all appreciated the quiet location and comfort of our cottage.

Very quiet, comfortable surroundings, with wonderful garden. Easy walking distance to town. No av but nice breeze to cool us.

The owner was rude she scolded us for doing laundry in the morning because she needed to wash sheets. She claimed she told other guests but not to us. There's no sign indicating when the laundry facility hours are and the door was open. The worst part is that she forcefully took our half washed wet clothes out of the machine and left them on the side! The check out hour is early at 10am so we ended up driving away with wet clothes in the trunk. The cabin is self service too there'd be penalties if you don't make the bed or wash the dishes. No parking in front of the cabin or paved side walk so you need to carry suitcases throu the gravel yard. The wall heater is not working either. For its high price it's a total disappoinment. I will not recommend it to anyone.

Nice accomodation

Pros: clean
Location: Not much to do in Murchison, we went there because of the trout fly fishing but the season had not started because of heavy rains in the spring
Very clean - Judy the host was very helpful and friendly. I had misjudged what the unit had to offer and had hoped that we could cook in the unit which was not the case, however the owner made sure that the BBQ was ready and available for us.
