Disappointing/Misleading Advertising

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Very close to beach. Full size kitchen appliances. We could see the ocean. It was quiet. It was spacious. I liked the patio.
Cons: Update decor. More comfortable bedding, beds and pillows. Tell housekeeping not to wake people before checkout. Update shower and tub. Fix pool.
Location: Great location, close to Broadway at the Beach, Wonder Works, House of Blues
When we arrived we were greeted by Matt who was very nice. We were disappointed to discover that our room was not in the main building. It was on the 3rd floor of a small building called the St John's Inn that had 3 floors and a scary elevator that we were afraid to use. We were surprised to see a full size stove, refrigerator and cabinets stocked with eating utensils and dishes. Our patio faced the pool. The room featured two beds and a a small flat screen tv. The decor looked like it was from the 70's. The bathroom was disappointingly small with an outdated tub. When I used the shower, the water flow was inconsistent and the temperature alternated between hot and cold. The toilet was in a strange position. We stayed at the hotel because we we saw that the hotel had a nice looking indoor pool and hot tubs. The indoor pool was closed for maintenance and the hot tub looked dirty. The hotel did not offer to do anything about it. Breakfast wasn't included in our rate, the hotel restaurant Santa Marina boasted a breakfast buffet, the breakfast was advertised at about 7.00 a person but the host, waitress and cook expected tips. I was not feeling well and wanted to box up my breakfast and they refused to give me a box even though I tipped everyone and spent over $20.00 there. The bed at the hotel gave me a backache and I discovered upon leaving that the frame was broken. The pillows were flat. Housekeeping beat on our door twice hours before checkout time and woke us up early.

Nice Quiet location close to beach.

Pros: It had everything you could think of. Roomy, fridge, microwave, stove and plenty of washcloths and towels. It had a balcony that was so comforting.
Cons: The WiFi was non existent. I tried many times to use my phone to locate things in the area and was not able to get anything, even Facebook.
Location: There are plenty of restaurants nearby if you don't want to eat at their restaurant. A few miles up the road is the boardwalk where there is plenty.
I took a friend for her birthday. I loved the experience. It was right across the street from the beach and parking was very convenient. I hated to leave. Though when I first checked in, they tried to sell me on upgrading my room but i declined and glad i did, I loved my room and its location from the main hotel. The Wifi was a problem. I decided not to use my phone because I couldn't even log in to Facebook with their WiFi. While i was at front desk, there was calls of problems with it. The breakfast is not free, you have to pay for it. That wasn't a problem because there was a nearby Dunkin Donuts I went to instead. Staff was friendly but i was moved around a lot at front desk, seemed they were training for the upcoming spring break. It's a nice place to stay, I would stay again.

Pros: My oceanfront room, the restaurant that's located downstairs, and the indoor pool and spa.
Location: The location of the hotel isn't near the attractions that we wanted to see, but we did not mind driving the few miles.
I loved my stay! The room looked just liked the pictures. I opened my room door to an awesome view of the ocean!! The staff was friendly and my room was clean and neat!!

OK place, but pictures can be VERY deceiving...

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: It was oceanfront and the view was nice.
Cons: Lots, but some type of noise ordinance in the parking garage and outdoors after late hours.
Location: Location wasn't too bad - not far from Broadway, the Skywheel, put-putt, outlet shopping, and other attractions.
By far, this wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed; however, I was very disappointed when I arrived. The photos make the place look like a true "resort," when in reality - it's an old Myrtle Beach oceanfront hotel, that's had a minor cosmetic facelift. The exterior of the hotel isn't bad in appearance, but I could have sworn that I read that room entries were interior corridors. They are NOT, and they are very close to the parking garage with beeping horns and loud noises, etc. The room itself was ok, but much smaller than the photos. The beds are full-size - not queen, and the kitchen and bathroom are very small. The coffee pot was not clean when I arrived, and the refrigerator was covered in dents. You could tell the place had been painted and "fixed-up" a bit...but you could also tell that it was a quick-fix - with minimal work done. Even more disappointing, although we did go at the end of March - the game room, gift shop, ice cream shop were all closed during our entire stay. The restaurant located inside the hotel had quirky hours, and there is no room service available here. The kid-zone area is very small, compared to the photos online. All in all -- it could have been a lot worse, but as my title says -- the pictures are VERY deceiving!

Pros: Location, balcony
Cons: Update d├ęcor. Softer towels
Location: Places to eat, near many attractions. Still need a car but only steps from ocean
Close to everything you need. Near the ocean, just a few steps away. Hotel is dated, breakfast was good. Good value

Absolutely loved our ocean view suite. Staff was awesome and extremely helpful handling our golf clubs that we shipped ahead of our arrival, booking our tee times and shows and helping us locate places to eat, and handling the safe return shipment of our clubs back home.

Nice ocean view from this room.

Pros: Front desk staff was awesome. Very friendly and so polite. Could not ask for better here.
Cons: The water pressure in the shower could be a lot stronger. Also a new shower head would be ideal.
Location: All sorts of food close by and plenty to see and do. Shopping was very close by also.
Overall a pretty good place to stay. Clean room and friendly front desk staff.
