Sticky bathroom floor & most lights not working

Pros: It was close to Mystic Aquarium. They offered breakfast.
Cons: Cleanliness.
Location: It is only about 10 to 15 minutes from Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Pizza and some nice shops.
We arrived around 8 PM. I reserved our room in advance. We went straight up to our room and headed to the bathroom. The floor was very sticky! Most of the lights in the room didn't work. The outdoor pool was GREEN. This was Memorial Day weekend.

Recently remodeled, clean, comfortable, quiet.

Pros: Quiet, recently remodeled, clean, large rooms with comfortable beds.
Cons: The lights on the main sign weren't working very will so I wasn't sure the large brick building at the end of the parking lot was the motel.
Location: I was attending a conference in Old Saybrook so I only know of quaint Mystic Village and a fish house by the singing bridge in Old Saybrook.
Was hard to find in the dark of night, but clerk was helpful when I called. There is a fun driveway ascending the hill to a parking lot with the two story brick building behind. The sign on the building needs to be better lit and much of my problem in finding it would have been solved. There were very few quests there. It needs to be better promoted. A lighted sign by the main road would help, but I liked the fact that it was not on the main road. The lobby had the flavor of an old hotel. If I weren't attending a conference in Old Saybrook or others from the conference were staying there with me I would have stayed the full week.

Run from the Hilltop!

We arrived to find no one at the desk; the desk clerk was sitting in the lobby playing with his phone. He got up to assist us after we explained we had reservations. Wifi availability was advertised; it was not available in the room or lobby. Continental breakfast advertised, none was available. Room was poorly cleaned, furniture old. We went out to dinner, no one was at the desk when we returned, note on door said to "force open". No one was at the desk when we checked out either!!! Don't stop hete!

Relaxing stay

The hotel is located away from the traffic, high on a hill. There are several stores at the bottom of the hill, so very convenient. Probably the quietest & most relaxing hotel we have stayed in. Surrounded by lots of trees & evening stroll very possible.

Dirty room (including sheets) and hostile help

The first room given to us was in exceptionally poor condition. The floor and toilet were very dirty and the TV did not work. When we turned the heat on, dust blew out of the heater and it gave off a burning smell. We were very tired and we might have made due with this, but when we pulled the bedspread off of the bed, we saw that the sheets were dirty with brown stains. When we called for and asked for a clean room, we were first told that none were available. We then asked for our money back - the guy at the desk was then able to find us a room. The new room was in acceptable condition and this would have made everything alright. However, the guy at the front desk yelled at and insulted both my wife and I. I cannot get over how filthy the first room was or how the guy at the front desk responded to us. Unacceptable.

First room was on second floor and the guy had to go see if key would work and no it didn't . so we asked for room on first floor, being there was no elevator . We were the only ones there, I thought because we were checking in early to take a nap.Room was clean but very dark with dark chocolate on walls .It look like they just painted and there was nothing hung on walls .The rug was squares and it looked new also.The tv needed to be reset every time you shut it off.The view out window was average for the area.It was so quiet inside hotel .The water pressure in shower was poor .In morning we went to go see( their advertised on sign by road breakfast buffet )It looked like some old half gallon of milk and no coffee creamers , couple engish muffins in plastic container in cooler , with some little mix butter packets . No fresh fruits, no yogurt , not much of anything .It was not a buffet that's for sure , we skipped that. So we try to check out and no ones at desk , but there is this phone there with sign saying if you need help to call the number. So we did and a girl comes over to us and wants to no our problem we tell her we want to check out , she walks around to hallway and doesn't come back.A man shows up and he know help either because we asked for receipt ,he says you get that online from hotel .com , but we didn't use them to book room. doesn't matter he gave us no receipt .To leave we had to push the very heavy doors apart ,they are broken down .
