Mixed experiencePosted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Excellent staff. Free coffee in the exception area for guests.
Cons: Consistent quality throughout. Apartments need a coat of paint.
Location: Close to all the key areas including 10 minutes walk from the station. Highlights for us were great restaurants, Nice old town and day trip to Monaco
We checked into the very lovely reception for a short honeymoon break having been attracted by the pictures on the website. The first apartment we were given can only be described as dreadful. The apartment overall was very dingy and small. Although key elements such as the kitchen and bathroom were clean, the walls had dirty streaks up them and there were numerous stains on, what can only be described as, a very shabby sofa bed. The bedroom was so small we had to shuffle sideways to get around the bed. The overall effect of the apartment had me close to tears. I have stayed in hostel accommodation with better overall presentation, so this was not what I expected for my honeymoon - budget or not. When we voiced our concern the staff were excellent, checking availability of other apartments and giving us the chance to view the alternative before changing over. The second apartment was a major improvement being lighter, cleaner and slightly larger than the first. Yes, it was simple and also in need of a coat of paint, but we were still mindful that this was budget accommodation in an excellent location. In effect, we were now getting what we paid for. If you could guarantee getting an apartment such as the second one we were offered, I would definitely recommend staying here. However, with the quality being so dramatically varied, I would suggest you do not run the risk. We will not be doing so again.

The location was very convient for walking to old town, restaurants and shopping. The room however was so small when the sofa is made into a bed that I could not walk around it. I had to put my suitcase on the table, move on chair into the bath and my carry on case on the stove top.

Citadines - always a good choicePosted Jun 15, 2014
All the Citadines that I have stayed at have been generally excellent. The location of this one is first class and mostly of the usual standard. I would just mention the absence of the usual dishwasher in the kitchen and less than perfect coffee and juice equipment in the lobby. Small items that the manager should get a grip on.

not the worst but could be betterPosted Jun 12, 2014
Pros: Good location and helpful staff.
Cons: A good deep clean of all the soft furnishings to eliminate odours.
Location: Less than five minutes walk to the beach, 15 minutes will take you to the Old Town or the shopping areas and 10 minutes walk to the train station.
Our two person 'apartment' was compact - the beds had to be folded back into the sofa every morning to have room to sit at the little dining table. The bedding was clean, the mattresses on the fold away beds were firm and the pillows were soft. In fact the mattresses were actually too firm and the pillows too soft for our comfort. Your milage may vary, but I would have preferred a firmer pillow, so be prepared to bring a cushion or travel pillow with you for better neck support! The bathroom was a good size with a real bath as well as a shower over the bath, with good water pressure in the shower. The kitchen is very basic, with only two small electric rings and a microwave, but is supplied with both a kettle and a coffee maker. The fridge has a small freezer section. Only one power socket in the kitchen so if you are using the kettle, you can't use the microwave at the same time. Not a lot of room for food preparation and nowhere to put dishes when washing up. The crockery cupboards were very high up - I could only just reach them to get items out and my friend couldn't reach at all unless she stood on the dining chair. The whole apartment looked and felt clean and bright, but was let down badly by a horrible smell from the soft furnishings - the curtains and sofa cushions smelled as if they had been soaked in urine and left to dry.

Nice hotel, great locationPosted May 27, 2014
Pros: How clean the rooms were and the helpful receptionist at the front desk.
Cons: Toilet room/area was small, these should be in the same room as the bathroom room not separate but was not a major issue, doable for a short stay
Location: Beach is 1 min down the road, about 5 min walk to the train station, restaurants 1 min, Supermarket 1 min
We stayed here during the Monaco F1 weekend 2014 in May and have to say was pleased overall. These are apartment style room so you get a kitchen, fridge etc. There was even an iron and ironing board. The rooms were clean and comfortable (most important) and we had a decent view from the balcony watching life go by whilst we prepared before going out to eat and heading off to Monaco. The beach can be seen from the room and was 1 min walking distance and the train station was 5 min up the road. There is a pharmacy opposite the hotel and supermarket 30 sec walk from hotel door. The girls at reception were very helpful and polite and helped us organise a taxi back to the airport when leaving and spoke good English. Coming back late after a night out the front door is locked but the security guard will let you in. Its not a 5 star hotel so don't expect luxuries like silk bed sheets etc but I was still very happy when you are on a budget and paid a fair price. Yes I would stay here again. Thumbs up.

Citadines Buffa NicePosted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: The staff were friendly and heplful.
Cons: Expedia need to sort out the problem re availability of twin bedded rooms.
Location: This is a good location as it is close to the stop for the airport bus and the Promenade des Anglais. The rail station is a short walk.
Having booked a twin bedded one bedroom apartment with a sofa bed in the living area, we were very disappointed to find the bedroom had a double bed. We complained to the staff at reception who told us that the mistake was with Expedia because they had no twin bedded rooms! After a wait, they showed us an apartment where the bedroom had a bed with a double bed frame with two single mattresses on it. We took that but found the arrangements very disappointing as the space in the bedroom was limited.
