Between the hotel and a ditch

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: Its cheap...ish. And when I wanted out of there they understood and didn't charge me for the second night.
Cons: response time for staff could really improve. Place could really use a serious renovation without the stuff piled in the back corner of the grounds.
Depending on the expected weather, I might prefer the ditch. With my family sweating in the car the staff was nowhere to be seen when I entered the office. After calling multiple times at volume levels approaching military grade I was helped eventually and got checked in. I was staying with my family; wife, two sons, and my small dog. If I were single and on a serious budget I would find nothing wrong with the hotel, I get what I pay for; but as far as staying with the family, Id rather set up a tent in an empty parking lot or just keep driving.

BED BUGS

Bed bugs have made this place a permanent residence. I wish I could upload a picture, they were visible from a distance.

My Road Trip from Vancouver to Winnipeg

Posted Jun 28, 2014
Pros: The hotel was right on the highway. The property is clean, the bed amazingly comfortable, and a great breakfast!
Cons: More an addition than improvement, bath salts available for purchase.
Location: Brandon, Manitoba - on Hwy 1 eastbound, right on the highway.
I was very close to my destination, Winnipeg, but knew I would get sleepy soon, so I chose to stop at the Brandon Super 8. I chose this hotel as I stopped at the Super 8 in Calgary with my travelling companion the previous night.

Budget choice

We stayed one night, the bed was very uncomfortable and very loud when you moved. The A/C unit was loud. The outside sounds echoed off the next bldg. and seemed to amplify. I won't be back.

Not worth a re-visit

Posted May 19, 2014
Pros: The personel were nice and polite and ready to answer my questions
Located just next to a highway the hotel is easily assessible by car. However if you consider using public transportation you'll have to walk one kilometre for the nearest bus stop on a road that lacks sidewalks. The selection of nearby breakfast opportunities is disappointing. Though I had a non-smoking room the smell of old cigarettes still clung to the furniture which did not seem to have been replaced since the 1970's. This smell caused a high discomfort staying at the hotel, so I could not recommend anyone to stay there.

Very noisy

Posted Oct 19, 2013
Pros: Late night check in was possible
Cons: Most things
Location: Kelowna is a nice area of BC with lots of things to do for everyone
The rooms have no sound proofing and you could hear the noise outside in the hallway and in the adjacent rooms for most of the night. The room was clean but did smell musty. Overall it was a cheap room for the night. I would not stay there again.

$149/night for dirty bathroom and loud AC

Posted Sep 4, 2013
Pros: The location (close to the people I was visiting). This was the main reason for choosing this property. I will look for another hotel next time.
Cons: The cleanliness, the amenities and the security measures as this motel is in a rather suspicious area.
Location: There were too better hotels/motels next door for almost the same price, with pools and continental breakfast.
When we checked in, the bathroom still had a wet face cloth hanging from the shower, the soap scum in the soap dish had been there for weeks if not months. The air conditioner/fan had to run 24/7 to keep the room comfortable. It was the loudest part of our stay (the Motel is on the Hwy 97N). I knew there were limited facilities - that is not a concern; the cleanliness of the bathroom was a concern. Outside access to the second floor was always open (held open by a string) to the public. The dead bolt on our door had been tampered with so that it did not complete the locking action. The screen for the TV = 16". For 2 queen beds with no amenities, this motel is over priced. I would expect to pay $98/night...with cleaner bathroom.

Can't complain. You get what you pay for.

Pros: pet friendly
Cons: Cleaning up the greenspace landscaping and repairing/repainting the picnic tables would be a win.
Location: 10 min to Mission or Downtown; Lots of restaurants and retail; we didn't use it but seemed like easy access to public transit.
Kelowna hotels are expensive in the high season, especially long weekends, end of story. This hotel was pretty ghetto BUT for one of the cheapest rates we could find in the city, it was clean, the staff were friendly, everything in the room worked and it was quiet. It also had a nice little greenspace out back with picnic tables and a gazebo/pergola covered in grapevines. There is lots of retail and restaurants nearby as well. I would recommend getting a south facing room though, as I imagine road noise from Harvey would be really unpleasant. I would recommend it for anyone needing a room on a budget, who isn't intending to spend a lot of time at the hotel.
