Had a great stay - not sure for kids

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: Rooms were big with nice balconies. Food was great - lots of healthy and gluten free options. Very friendly service. Did not feel like a chain.
Cons: Letting guests know the party nature of the hotel.
Location: Walking distance to Old Scottsdale.
Went for spring break with my young kids ( 3 & 6) Scottsdale has so much for kids - from the kid's museum and Railroad park to all the parks and baseball. Picked this hotel because I liked the vibe online and wanted to get away from the resorts. Everyone was super nice. Food was a happy surprise - lots of healthy choices and gluten free choices for my son. However....this is a party hotel. Biggest deal with getting a room is getting access to the pool where everyone is drinking pretty hard. Music DJ playing loud during the afternoon. STILL...they gave us a room far enough away from the pool, were incredibly nice, and we had a great time. Did not spend that much time at the hotel. Rooms were big. Location really easy to walk into town. We had fun. Probably would not stay here again with little kids - but no regrets.

Thank you for staying with us! The atmosphere at the hotel varies based on the day of the week and season. Late spring through September we have a DJ at the OH Pool on Saturdays from 1:30-5:30 p.m., along with a band on Fridays from 3:00-6:00 p.m. The pool area is more lively during these times. We do also offer the OHasis Pool, which has no music and offers a more relaxing alternative. We appreciate your feedback.

I was expecting Bugsy Siegel to come walking in!

Posted Mar 11, 2014
Pros: Location. Design. friendly staff. Great food service. Unique experience.
Cons: With all the seating options available in my suite I didn't find any of them comfortable for sitting and reading possibly because of the 1950s designs
Location: The hotel is in Old Town Scottsdale with it's own unique character driven by the art galleries and fine gift stores, restaurants and bars of all types
What a fascinating place! Done in a 1950's desert resort style of architecture and design it reminded me of the pictures of the original Flamingo Hotel Bugsy Siegel built in Las Vegas with a newer tower in addition to the low rise wings. The interior design carries the theme through almost to extremes. I was given an upgrade without requesting it which is always nice. Several upscale chains have tried to "sell" me an upgrade on check-in which I find irritating. The suite was extremely large, set up for extended stays (I wish I could have extended my stay!). The doormen/valet/bellman were extremely friendly and helpful as was the front desk personnel. Room service was great as was breakfast in the dining room complete with some Vegas style horseshoe booths. The hotel is "right there" in Old Town Scottsdale, within walking distance to anything and only minutes drive south to downtown Phoenix or North to the traditional Scottsdale Resorts. I loved it and I'm usually a grumpy traveler.

Perfect Hotel Near Old Town Scottsdale

Posted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: Proximity to Old Town. I liked the size as well. It didn't feel like a mega hotel even though there are a decent amount of rooms.
Cons: There was nothing that they could have done to make the stay better. Room was great. Staff was great!
Location: Easy walking distance to Old Town restaurants and bars and could walk to Fashion Square Mall as well if you wanted to.
Hotel staff was great. Hotel was well maintained. Room was in great condition. We tried checking in early but they were at full occupancy and our room was not available to check in. However, they took my number and called before normal check-in hours. We had valeted and left our bags in the car. They asked if we had baggage to take to the room and I told them that it was in the car in valet. They graciously took our bags to our room for us and they were waiting on us when we can came back hours later. Walking distance to restaurant and bars in Old Town or a short cab ride. There are several quality restaurants very close to the hotel. I would definitely stay here again and again.

Nice hotel but to retro.

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: staff was great and the hotel restaurant was exceptionally good.
Cons: lights comes around the curtains and it was hard to sleep.
Location: nice location and good for old town activities.
was very retro. We got two double beds instead of a queen. To be fair we booked through expedia and it wasn't that great of a room. I would have never booked this hotel if it was not an online expedia surprise. nice hotel but not for us.

Hotel Valley Ho experince

Posted Feb 13, 2014
Pros: Modern decor and fun equating arrangement in lounge areas.
Cons: Coffee pot was difficult to figure out and use in the room.
Location: Location was great although we had difficulty finding the front door. (Not well marked). East access to Fashion Mall in Scottsdale.
Staff met us at the door and offered valet service. Check-in was easy. We were given a map to assist us in finding our room. It was wonderful to walk outside, have a snack by the outdoor fireplace and to enjoy the fabulous weather of the Valley!

This is a classic 50's/60's retro hotel, updated

Posted Feb 9, 2014
Pros: spacious rooms.
Location: Tons of restaurants.
I've stayed here twice now. This time was a little disappointing because of (a) noisy guests, which, of course, the hotel is not to blame for, and (b) no non-decaf coffee in my room, which of course they are to blame for and which is living hell! Seriously, it's a great location (eat at the Tortilla Factory!), clean, modern, but retro.
