Could have been better

Posted Dec 18, 2013
My family and I booked 7 rooms at this resort for 3 nights. We requested king-sized, ground floor rooms close to each other before arrival. Upon arrival, we had to wait until 4pm to have 5 of our rooms ready and another hour for the other 2 rooms. When we finally got to our rooms we realized we were placed in the furthest corner of the resort, on the third floor!! Btw, there was no elevator so the 70-year olds in our group had to make the trek across the resort and up the stairs. Another treat: our beds were not all king sized. We only got 2 rooms with king sized beds. The other rooms ranged from 2 to even 3 single beds! When we informed the front desk they told us we might be able to get 2 of the rooms changed the following day- This never happened. We were just so fed up with the poor service we decided to just settle for the rooms we got. Dinner was ok that night, long wait and queue aside. The next morning however was an awful breakfast experience. We waited in queue for more than an hour to be seated and by that time there were very little options in the buffet and nothing was being replenished, not even clean plates! When we thought it couldn't get worse, we didnt have water in our rooms for a couple hours that afternoon. And no television reception either. Things started to get better by the third day. The meals were very tasty and the pool and bar was awesome. We made the best of our short vacation and would definitely stay here again if standards improve!

Quiet and Relaxing

Posted Dec 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was our third trip to Turtle Beach Resort and like the first two trips, it was very quiet and relaxing. Perfect for couples and families who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle. There are no shops or stores within walking distance so be prepared to rent a car or hire a taxi if you want to do some sightseeing or souvenir shopping. The hotel and rooms itself are not very modern, but always very clean. Not much activities to do here, basically just hanging around by the pool and bar.

Even better the second time

Posted Sep 2, 2013
Pros: The pool area
Cons: Kids meals; water sports
This was my second time at the Rex in Tobago and it was better than I remember. You cannot go with high expectations. My husband, son and myslef stayed in a ground floor room with two queen sized beds on the all-inclusive package. The room was resonably clean and large and the beds comfortable. The bathroom could have been a cleaned a bit more thoroughly but it wasn't a major concern. The food was good and satisfying, though there was not enough options for the kids. There were many options of alcoholic and non- alcoholic drinks that were quite satisfying. The pool was nice and relaxing and yes a bit mouldy on the edges, but I wouldn't complain about something so trivial. The staff was super friendly and continuosly ensured we were having a good time. There was a strong security presence everywhere so we felt safe.

Decent hotel , very close to the beach.

Posted Jul 21, 2013
Cons: Wifi in rooms was not working despite getting a good signal. Perhaps another swimming pool .
The hotel was functional. Rooms were cleaned often enough. TV only had a few stations. But , room was very close to the beach. Open the back sliding door in room and you're on the beach. Beach was very private and quiet and seemed to be well kept- no garbage or dogs, and no seaweed and not rocky. There was ample space for everyone, and enough beach chairs and other equipment. No rush to get anything. Food was decent. Breakfast was good. Staff very helpful and polite.

Great Hotel on the beach

Posted Jul 14, 2013
Pros: The Staff
Cons: Night entertainment
Location: All inclusive was great
The experience once again was excellent, thanks to Esther at reception for check in and another Esther for check out, which was prompt and efficient. Jason at the pool bar, a special "big up" great cocktails and friendly personality. Thanks to the Manager for a special reception for repeaters and special thanks to "Scotty" and the staff at the restaurant for tasty and enjoyable meals. Another GREAT experience. Will return in August and December

Very pleasant hotel

Pros: Position
Cons: Wait to check in
Location: Excellent - on the beach
Lovely situation, comfortable hotel, just a shame to have to wait a while to be allowed to check in. Great to see the turtles.

Great location, desperate for refurbishment!

Posted May 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great location - on beach, can view Leatherback Turtles but in desperate need of refurbishment! Very dated. Bedrooms - need new bedlinen, towels and curtains. Door has been so overpainted its difficult to open & close. Bathroom needs overhaul and new grouting. Staff service variable - can be quite uncommunicative. Restaurant needs an overhaul - decor and style of food service (clingfilm on film, no refrigerated containers for food (use ice in trays), limited choice). Tour choice? What tour choice?

A place to relax

Posted Apr 15, 2013
Very nice hotel, Bar staff was superb, Room was very clean A/C quiet and worked perfectly, free WiFi was great for Skype to call home (best location is by the bar or lobby) WiFi was too week in my room but worked on the patio. Money exchange can be done at the lobby, but better rates at the airport, and even better if you use a bank. This hotel is isolated from other hotels, resturants and stores, a taxi can take you to town or the airport for 90TTD (15USD) one way. The beach was great, I did not go in the pool but others enjoyed it. If you want to hear the waves, relax by the pool and soak up the sun this hotel is for you. If you want a little more for entertainment bars and resturants, the taxi driver recommended to find a hotel close to the airport.
