"We had 4 couples and 4 kids, and booked almost 2 years in advance for the eclipse. The Rusty Rio is quaint and what it appears to be....a fun and "campy" spot. The only gripe we had was that when we booked, we filtered rentals that had hot tubs, and hot tub was listed as an amenity. It didn't work, and likely hasn't for many years. "Stayed two nights to watch the 2024 eclipse and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool area with the chaise lounges was perfect for viewing and the river was a nearby alternative. We spent most of our time at the patio table watching the deer and relaxing. The kitchen was well-appointed and we cooked dinner both nights we were there. "This house is amazing! The design is ideal - every room has a bathroom. The kitchen, living, and dining area was large and really family friendly. My kids favorite part was the large pool and outdoor kitchen area which included a TV. In the mornings, you could sit outside with your coffee and watch deer and other wildlife. "After traveling from Amarillo to Dallas for a medical appt, we made arrangements for a couple of days in Hill Country just for some downtime. The home was beautiful and comfortable. Everything was inviting, quiet and relaxing. The only thing we were disappointed with was that we could not use the pool (as this was the number one reason for booking.) All in all, it was a trip well worth the time and will most likely book again (only next time make sure the pool is warm enough for use)."
