"Beautiful Hotel"
This was our first time in Texas and I was very pleased with the hotel. The hotel was beautiful and although some of the attractions were closed during our stay, we still had a wonderful time. My daughters enjoyed the rainforest, aquarium and pool the most. It is very close to the sea wall and the strand as well, so there is really a lot to do and the hotel is very family friendly. My only complaint would be that some of the hotel staff in the lobby were not very helpful. Being a first time visitor to Galveston, I wasn't familiar with some of the fun things to do in the surround area. Whenever we asked the staff members in the lobby if there were any other interesting things to do close by, the would respond with, "I don't know" or "that's a good question." it was a bit odd. Perhaps they need more training in that area. The waiters, waitresses, bartenders, and housekeeping staff were wonderful and super friendly! I will definitely stay at this hotel again, but not sure if I would depend on the lobby staff/desk clerks for help! Other than that, it's an awesome hotel!

"Very nice hotel, great view of the beach"
The hotel was great -- wonderful view of the pool and beach. The hotel itself was quiet when we were there -- only excess noise was from traffic, when sitting on the balcony, but inside the room was quiet. No coffee in the room, but it was available in the lobby with a continental breakfast. Breakfast could be enjoyed inside, with a view of the beach! Nice. Cookies and milk available in the evening. I would definitely stay there again. Another plus -- the hotel is on a corner, with one of the few crossing signals, to safely make it across several lanes of traffic, to the beach. Away from crossings, you are taking a risk as there is no median, just a center turn lane.

"Great Hotel next to Port of Galveston"
We were looking for a nice hotel close to the Port. We flew in a day early on Friday for a Saturday cruise as we always do to make sure that we are there with no flight delays and are ready to board. This hotel definitely was a pleasure. It is in the historic district of Galveston and within a couple of blocks of the shopping in the district. The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. It is an old building that has all the hisoric and period charm mixed with the modern amenities. The staff was great. On Saturday morning the port was closed due to fog so we had to wait for the ship to come in and unload which didnt happen until 2 in the afternoon. It was pouring down rain. The front desk staff got us a complimentary shuttle to take us and our luggage to the port. It was a great experiance and we can't wait to go back. Oh yes the bed at the Tremont House was more comfortable than the one on the boat.

"Needs a full length mirror! Otherwise perfect!"
Everyone was super friendly and helpful. We didn't have a remote for the TV but they fixed it right away. The only staff member who was not super accommodating was the "trash man." And my episode with him was so funny, it would be worth staying there again just to see this grumpy old man. I was waiting for the elevator with two other patrons. I did not know these other two ladies. Grumpy man was leaving the elevator. He had a bin plied high with trash. He looked directly at me and said, "I'm going that way." To me, that indicated that I should back out of his way. I went the "wrong" direction. Apparently, he gestured behind the pile that he was going to my right. I did not see this gesture. So, when I moved to the right giving him a clear path to move forward he yelled at me, "I TOLD YOU I WAS GOING THAT WAY!" I looked at the other ladies like, "did I miss something?" At that moment the elevator dinged to close and move. He then shouted at all of us to "PUSH THE BUTTON!" He was blocking the button with his large rolling trash bin. We could not reach the button which really made this guy mad! The lady next to me told him to "Have a NICE DAY!" And then she told us that we needed to pray for that angry man. :-) About 5 minutes later I saw that his trash bin crashed and that the bags fell everywhere. I wanted to feel sorry for him, but I laughed. Rarely does one get to see Karma at work. :-)
