San Luis Obispo, California Hotel Rooms at the Independent

We had to cancel our La Jolla vacation plans because my husband had to work. Booked Creekside at the last minute remembering our enjoyable stay the previous month. It's always so cozy, clean the owners Amy and Tom are really friendly. Best of all, our dog Ivory is able to travel with us and loves coming here. We will be back!

I love to stay at San Luis Creek lodge when we get a chance. It is a small hotel consisting of 3-4 different buildings in different architectural styles. I believe the rooms are decorated to match each building's style. Staff is always wonderfully welcoming and breakfast in the small breakfast room includes a variety of breads, fruits, cereals, yoghurt, sausage, potatoes, etc. and you can ask for fresh scrambled eggs and/or waffles. The rooms are clean and quiet. We usually reserve one with a king bed and a gas fireplace. We've never had a bad experience here. Prices are usually reasonable, and qualify as value, in my opinion, when you can get a last minute or mid-week discount.

We were exhausted from an all day trip down the PCH from San Francisco when we pulled in after dark. I was greeted so warmly, given wonderful recommendations for where to find dinner and things to see the next day. When I brought my family into Room 6 and we found a calming, clean beautiful room- 2 queen beds with luxurious linens and duvets, 2 nice welcoming chairs and a fireplace. My husband is a Marriott man all the way so I was a little nervous at booking this sight unseen. I had nothing to worry about- this was a welcome break from the sterility of a large chain. My only regret is that we were only here for 1 night. Next time we will stay longer.

My family stayed there one night on ourway to san fransisco. We all loved the room and the bathroom. Interior is updated and there is a fireplace in the room. It doesn't make the room stuffy but warm over the night.

Can't get any closer to the beach! Great comp breakfast and pool amenities.

The staff at Bellasera were great. They helped making my engagement weekend romantic and a complete surprise to my now fiancee. I called ahead to let them know what I was doing and I had some ideas and they were able to execute my plan perfectly. I also appreciated how important it was for the staff that everything was perfect.

Great location. Sparkling wine upon check-in and turn down service included 2 handmade truffles by the chef from the bistro downstairs (ate dinner there and it was excellent!). Breakfast was a delicious coffee cake and hard boiled eggs. Bed was very comfy, loved the room decor and the shower. Our room also opened up to a small patio with has fireplace (shared with room next door). Enjoyed the common seating area with gas fireplace and chess set. Utilized the free bike rentals. All around great hotel and would definitely stay again!

Perfect place for a layover. The hotel prepared an evening wine tasting and nibbles which was perfect after a long drive. The hotel is walking distance to the beach and a number of restaurants (one of which we had a fantastic dinner at). Breakfast was excellent.

This was exactly what I was looking for. It was like a home away from home. Amy had everything you would need plus more. She made homemade cinnamon rolls. She even decorated the place with a birthday gift for me. More than I could ask for. We will definitely be back.

We enjoyed visiting the little shops near the hotel and the City Hall. We had a late lunch at the Fig which was healthy and delicious, very casual. The next day we found baked goods at Hush Harbor half a block north in a little shopping center. We wanted to lunch at Scotty's BBQ but hours were from 3-8 PM , smelled delicious and will definitely try to catch this BBQ next time.Our hotel room was posh, lovely linens, deep jetted tub, nice shower. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
