“Good location, bad hotel”

Great location - 10 min walk from the main train station and you don't need to cross any bridges. Hotel is right on one of the canals (not the grand canal). But hotel is being very poorly maintained. The drain in the vanity was broken, A/C didn't work very well, shower room was filthy. There were a grand total of 3 curtains in the closet, and all 3 were of different shape/size. Room was really small, but I guess that's standard in Venice. Internet access is very expensive (3EUR for 30 min). Breakfast was bare and low quality (mostly canned fruits and bread). We booked at this hotel because we got a good deal, but knowing what I know about the hotel, I would not recommend this hotel to any other traveler even if it's the cheapest option in Venice. I would spend the few extra $ to stay at a better place.
