“clean, honest two stars with atmosphere”

Clean room with warm, antiquated atmosphere, with a very clean and modern bathroom, even a tiny safe and a one-foot-wide "balcony" facing the backyard. The most enticing feature was a tiny window with an ancient wooden shutter looking down on to the busy narrow street (the closed double pane window blocks the noise effectively). The quirky parts are the entryway to the hotel which really is just 2 feet wide between two houses, the fact that you pick up the key in the hotel next door and then they buzz you into the hotel door of this one, and the few flights of narrow stairs to the room (no elevator), which is a bit of a struggle with luggage. definite bonus is that it's situated on a large street that you can find on a map and that you can walk there from the train/bus in 10min upon arrival without getting lost. overall a decent place to stay in Venice for a few days.

a very comfortable stay all three days. the staff was very helpful with all our requirements and queries. We will definately want to go back there next time.

“Good little Hotel”

Morderno Hotel, is a very good little hotel in a great location. Next to the train station, 5 minutes walk to Pizzale Roma and near the water bus station to Rialto and St Marco. The room was basic but very good and very clean. The bathroom was espcially good. The air conidtioning was perfect and worked very well. The breakfast included is not the best but with all the other places to go eat who cares. We did not. Very much recommended, we had the room at the top which was good.

Good friendly Hotel- cheap and cheerful. Rooms were a good size and clean. Had a good stay. Very close to transport to and from airport etc. so no carrying luggage over all the bridges.

“Did what it said it would do - and well”

A perfect example of a simple 2 star hotel. Well priced, well appointed, well situated. A bit noisey in the street outside - but this is a city centre tourist hotel and you can pay four times this money for just as much noise anywhere in Europe. Pack some earplugs and you just cannot fault the Moderno

“Friendly Venice Hotel”

This is a good hotel if you would like a central location as its very near all of Venices top locations.The rooms are clean with a nice bathroom and shower. Also a few nice bars and shops next to the hotel.

“Basic but OK”

A small hotel with reception in the adjacent Hotel Zecchini. Small but clean and generally in good repair. Minor quibbles: shower adjustment faulty, no facility to boil water in room, at late breakfast much of the food has gone (not adequately replenished). Overall it was acceptable for a budget hotel.

perfect location and hotel for a perfect weekend. this is only a 2 star as it doesnt have its own reception and breakfast room. our room was spotless, a nice size and there was no street noise. the breakfast next door was good. would go back

“Nice location and clean”

Right on the beach. There is a Miami sort of feel with the waterfront cafes along the walking path between the hotel and the sand. Nice size and comfortable room.

“Moderno Hotel.....not so Modern.”

The Hotel is not so bad as long as you dont have to be there all the time. The entrance to the hotel is down a 2 ft wide alley (I'm not kidding), up some really steep stairs, and you have to wait on some one to come from the hotel next door to let you in. Also, every time you leave the room, they want you to leave the key with the hotel next door. The people at the front desk were a little snooty when on check out day we were suppose to be out by 11:00, we thought 12:00, but they did not give us to hard of a time. Its not that bad of a place to stay.
