"The First Colony Inn is a lovely old property in a great location for visiting the Outer Banks. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Buffet breakfast choices were very good and the hot option varied each day. There's a wonderful beach opposite the inn and a good selection of restaurants and shops nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return."

"The only reason I am not excellent all the way is because it wasn’t quite as “ antique-ee as I thought otherwise it was clean comfy and everyone was amazingly sweet! A good stay and the breakfast - perfect! "

"The property is lovely but as you would expect with a historic home it was missing some modern conveniences. There weren’t enough plug ins for all your electronic devices to charge by the bed. There is some signs of foundation issues and the room we stayed in was pretty small with the bathroom being a bit bigger than two phone booths. Overall it was charming but I was glad we only were staying one night."

But you could sit on the upstairs porch. Or the sitting upstairs or downstairs. Super helpful checkin information. And then a breakfast you cannot beat, served with kindness and attention. "So hospitable! The Aerie is ideally located which was why we chose it. The bonuses were the lovely room, drinks and snacks, and both outdoor and indoor lounging areas. They happily accommodated some special dietary requests and made us feel at home! Highly recommend!!"

"Loved this place & its quirkiness. You definitely need to notice the fine print which I may not have fully but isn’t a true B&B. However, there are plenty of free breakfast continental items and specialty coffees and teas for your enjoyment. Self service what you want and how ever much you want. Snacks and drinks always available. Saw a staff member 1 time in almost a 2 days; however, the modern & convenient text service works fantastic!! I did have to use & got immediate responses. "I loved everything about my stay. The hostess, Sharla, was an absolute gem. She allowed my mom and I to check in earlier than the original time, which made it easier to get to the concert venue in enough time. She truly made my experience one that I will never forget. I will come back to visit when I am in Greensboro again. She was helpful with giving us ideas of places to go and things to do. The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable.
