Can’t wait to go back

Barring a beach this has everything. Very nicely appointed rooms with every comfort. Close enough to the Kona downtown part. Very friendly staff. They could, though, have provided little things like coffee and extra soap etc every day.

Very nice for families - full kitchen, TVs and a nice family area downstairs with pool, bbq etc.

good place to stay if you kids

The rooms were big and comfortable, good for large families. The two bathrooms were a big plus. The kids likes the pool with a water falls and natural lava rocks. Nice gym for the adults.

Be aware but beautiful

This is a condo under the same umbrella as WorldMark, RCI, and Wyndham Vacation resorts. We were not aware we would be pressured to sit through a meeting to try to sell to us. We were disappointed in that. Be aware when you go for your parking pass. Once that is resolved with a yes or no for the meeting, the rest of the stay is delightful. Facilities are lovely and well maintained, also a beautiful pool and spa. We stayed in a two bedroom, two bath condo that suited four adults beautifully. Decorated in "everything Hawaiian".

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Snorkel Kahuluu Beach Park in the morning, two beaches down from the Wyndham, it is as good as snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef! We took Island Hoppers Circle Tour of the Island and it was fantastic. Expensive but worth it! Ask for any discounts. Best way to see the volcano action for sure!

Extremely late check in

Hotel was extremely nice, but I was disappointed with check in services. Got there at check in time of 4pm and was told our room still was not ready- after a long day of activites and travel we had to wait until after 6:30pm to check in.

Nice Place

Stayed last week of Feb 2008; Very nice place - roomy, clean and quiet. Lovely condos and price very good too. The staff was quick to help though we had no major problems. Close to grocery stores so it was nice to eat out on the balcony. Rental car is beneficial as it is indeed a big island. I would try it again and recommend it to others. Get a direct flight to Kona and don’t go through Honolulu like we did- too much time.

Plenty of room for everyone.

The bungalow was clean and spacious. It is really very lovely inside and out. We enjoyed the quiet area and the pool. After 3 of us being in a small room on the otherside of the island it was a treat to spread out and do our own things without worring about disturbing anyone. The room we were suppose to have was having some issues so they put is another room quite quickly. There is a small beach a short walk down the road. The surf was strong while we were there so I only dared go in up to my knees. A lady who had been living in the area a few months said it isn’t always like that. I would stay there again, especially with a group of people.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The Costco is very nice and carries local foods also, also has gas at a good price. The farmers market is great too.

Beautiful Hawaii experience

We loved our room at the Wyndham - there was a big footed, jetted tub right in the room, which was huge. The suite was large and very well stocked. The grounds were gorgeous, I especially liked the pool and spa area. After the initial attempt to get us to come to the time share meeting, which we refused, there was no more pressure to join. Our only issue was that the handle in the tub kept falling off, but maintenance came promptly each time to fix it. I can’t think of a better deal for your money.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Go snorkeling at Keahou bay next to the Outrigger hotel. We saw three sea turtles in the water and tons of fixh.

Nice Hotel, but look for excitement off property

The Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Village is a timeshare resort. There is no restaurant or bar onsite, so look for that elsewhere. The pool and hot tub are adquate, but not exciting. For those that want to cook in their rooms, the kitchens are great. They also have gas grills located around the property to use. One thing the units lacked was storage space. You get one armoire per room, so if you have a lot of baggage it might get tight if you have 4 adults along in your party. We all had scuba gear along on our trip, so the space got used up quickly.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We enjoyed going to Lava Java, which one could walk to from the resort. It’s down along the waterfront about .8 miles when you turn right out of the resort. Great coffee, breakfast and sandwiches. If you’re looking for snorkeling or diving charters, check out Jack’s Diving Locker at the Coconut Grove Shopping Center in the same location as Lava Java. They have great boats, friendly staff and good looking dive boat personnel. :- )

A Bit of Paradise in Paradise

This is our third trip to the resort so we really like it. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a full kitchen with dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, freezer with ice maker, and plenty of counter space, and a washer/dryer. These all make for a nice vacation. The lanai is a wonderful place to eat meals - it has a large table and six chairs, plus most of the lanai’s have either lush garden views or ocean views. Finally, bring your own collection of DVDs since the TV in the living room has a DVD player. That should help lower the cost of entertainment for families!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Shop at Costco for your food. It will save you lots of money over Safeway.

Very enjoyable hotel

We had a very nice 2 bd room kitchenette, with 2 full bath. I would love go go back. ABC store and other conveniences were nearby. Outside plants and parking was very good. Even though we were 5 people in the room, only 2 cups of coffee was provided.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Only about 95 miles to Valcano park.

Wonderful stay!

Our two bedroom unit was wonderful. Plenty of room for our family of five, including three teens. Big living room. Decor was rattan-Hawaiian theme. Contrary to other comments, we had no problems with noise in our first floor unit. Pool and hot tubs were uniquely "natural" with sand bottoms and rock sides. Our only whine was that wireless internet was only available in the lobby area, which required walking to the entrance of the complex 100-200 yards down the road. We’d love to go back.

8-5 service

The Bad-Customer Service for problems is the worst. We were happy with the room. 3 days later we were told we had to move to another across the resort since they were going to paint the room, although we did get a dinner voucher for the inconvience after complaining. After WE moved ourselves in, I informed them we were missing the non-stick frypan about 7pm. "Sorry, houskeeping has gone home for today but I will leave them a message." Next day no fry pan, called again. "Sorry, I left them a note and they are gone for the day." I also informed them one of the TV’s had a problem. They would report it to maintenance who was gone for the day also. Finally got the frypan two days later. Then found the blender wouldnt work, you guessed it, "Sorry, gone for the day." That was the evening before we were to leave so I never got the blender and the TV never got fixed. The Good- Nice spacious rooms, in room hairdryers are there but were not mentioned in ad so dont bring your own like we did. Airjet tub was nice. Some rooms had nice garden views like our first one. Quiet area, I wouldnt recommend walkingto shopping, I would say it is too far and you will be exhausted. Clean linens and supplies were plenty but a little erratic, got some everyday and then started to et ever dy or two?? Some days beds were remade (guess they didnt like our job) and dishes in dishwasher were put away. Didnt expect that but nice suprise.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Crafty things planned on property were fantastic. The people giving them are ery friendly and helpfull. Made leighs, saw hula dancing, learned to start to play ukelele. These people are top notch! Rooms are thin walled. You dont have to have kids above you for it to be noisy. I think thicker carpeting would help this. Two showers and the tub were nice to have. Washer and dryer are noisy but just plan accordingly and no big deal to us. Walmart and Safeway a few miles away were convienent.

Great stay for the family!

We stayed on the first floor because we had kids. Room was clean, but furnishings were a little outdated. Kitchen had every utensil you could think of(though we hardly touched any of it). Don’t plan on doing laundry if you want some rest; washer and dryer were very noisy.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Many shops within walking distance, but we found Wal-mart was the most reasonable place to get the necessities, which is about a mile away. Great restuarant for the family: Fishhopper(about 1 mile north on same street).

Well Kept Condos

This resort consists of nicely kept condos in a garden setting. They are well decorated, clean and well stocked. The location is good across the road from the beach but isolated a bit from the heart of the downtown area. The only downfall for us was that we were downstairs and I could hear the upstairs guests quite a bit. next time I would request an upstairs condo. Also there is no internet service in the rooms, you have to go to the lobby. Other than that it was a nice stay.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Staying at a condo like this is more economical to avoid eating out every night at higher priced restaurants especially if you have a large family. Shop at the local Costco and buy some meals to cook at the condo or buy local fresh fish and use the barbeques for a delicious meal.
