great hotel if you upgrade
We arrived before check-in and they had our room ready, including the rollaway bed we had requested for our son. That was a first for us! We had a "master suite", while the rest of our group stayed in "ocean front" rooms. The master suite room is awesome! Our bed did not seem to be as hard as their beds, which is a complaint that I had read about this hotel. In fact, we slept very well. We had some pretty good food at this hotel also. Make sure to eat at the Japanese restaurant and get the tacos at the pool snack bar (you have to ask for them). The hotel is between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the towns, be warned of the cab fares...it gets very expensive. The pool was always cold, even when 90 degrees outside. We were told that it is always red flag day at the beach, but the cove that the hotel guests use was pretty calm. Be prepared to go down with your drinks because it is a good walk back to the pool bar. Not super impressed with the pool bar service. I felt I had to pre-tip to get them to even pay any attention to you. Also, the general store at the hotel is expensive and they are not very friendly in there. Get your stuff elsewhere. The bellboys were very helpful and friendly, so ask them for info. Overall, the hotel is a great place to stay, just be sure to upgrade to a master suite!
There is an italian food restaurant in downtown San Jose. I think it was called La Dolce or something like that. Some of the best italian food I have ever had. Be sure to make a reservation...we just walked in and got lucky.

Perfect, Perfect, PERFECT!!!
Oh...what a great weekend. This is our third time to the Melia Cabo Real. We have the "frequency" card and received a complimentary upgrade and a free bottle of wine. My husband and I had massages on the beach and they were great and not resort priced. The food was a lot better than in the past and the staff is ALWAYS wonderful. We cant wait to go back!

Amazing Resort! We will definitely return!!
We could not have been more pleased with this resort/hotel. The staff was especially helpful and friendly. The food was very good in the restaurants and decent at the main buffet. Love the swim-up bar in the pool and the hammocks on the beach are a great way to relax. We will be back for sure!
