Given standard room on arrival despite having booked & paid for deluxe room thru hotels.com (attic room claustraphobic & smoky with smoke rising from bar). Deluxe rooms much nicer in block across street, with small modern shower room.(unpleasant 'sewagey' smell from adjacent park to deluxe room block, though cannot smell once in room). Service definately not with a smile (we booked specific room on couple of occassions only to find it was not available when we arrived), staff at breakfast and in bar not friendly. Hotel seemed to favour french speaking guests. Having said that, and accepting that Tanna is what it is, the deluxe room is very good value for Tanna and we did return several times during our stay in Madagascar, and strangely enough would go back but only if deluxe room available & prices remained low. Restuarant is excellent and well attended for lunch and dinner, very reasonably priced for food and wine, and friendly professional staff. (can get full for dinner, so reservation might be wise)
