We stayed for 1 night in Lodge 1 PROS - Quiet location (didn't see another person at all). - Large, open-plan room with jetted tub. - Kitchen had all necessary cooking equipment. - Communication with staff was great. Very clear self check-in instructions, as well as follow up welcome email and check-out email. - Very close to Tanunda which has everything you need. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Foodland is the local grocery store which is open 7 days. CONS - There is nothing within walking distance. You could walk to Tanunda but it would be along a dusty, dirt road with no path or shade. - Approx. 2km's of dirt road to get to the location (as at Feb 2023). We had a hire car so it wasn't a bother but I wouldn't have wanted to drive it in my personal vehicle. Yes the bed was hard, but I liked it. Overall a great stay and we would stay again.

Nature at its best..Saw so many kangaroos (mostly kids) playing near our cottage in the grapevines and enjoyed ravishing sunset from the property. Absolutely quiet and peaceful with almost no disturbance. Can’t expect any better.

The location and the unit itself were okay, but there were no towels in the room. When we realised this, all staff had left the premises. This was disappointing for our one night stay. The amenities were all okay, although quite dated, and the bathroom and spa bath could use a good spruce up.

Great location. Generous breakfast provisions, but bring coffee if you drink it - they provide a plunger but no beans, international roast sachets.

Beautiful surroundings. Management seems to have changed over the past couple of years. Don't expect any interaction with the host. Communication via email is great and check-in/check-out is done via code to access keys from dropbox. Simple breakfast provisions provided. Interior is a bit stuffy and dated.

A restful room overlooking a fine vineyard only minutes away from shops and restaurants. Breakfast included that you prepare yourself in a self contained kitchen. Very friendly hosts. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Barossa.

The lodge was wonderful. A great use of space made it feel welcoming and comfortable; great bathroom and bedroom fittings, and the setting was just perfect.

Had a great time staying up the hill. Really nice sunset and a 15min walk to grant burge wines. Easy check in with lots of space. May need a reno soon for added comfort.

Great property, really good location and makes for one cool relaxing evening. Some downsides, reception closed 30 min before the advised time of 1730 with no casual contact number left behind. The WiFi is non existent in the Lodges and a knock on the door on 1030 sharp to ask us to checkout was quite rude, even after confirming a 1100 check out.

Great visit to Borassa Valley
Spent a few wonderful days in the Barossa Valley. Hotel was excellent. Helen was amazing in the kitchen and showed us how to make scones! Will be going back as soon as possible!

Yes, I would certainly recommend this property but not for senior people like ourselves we did find staying in the Lodge/Cottage room was very steep (for us anyway) and my husband had to drive down to the main area because he couldn't handle the steep incline. If one is fit and able, certainly go for it with my blessing. You have to be a Mountain Goat to get to your room. We were surprised to see that we were booked into the Lodge/Cottage with Sofer bed made up as well which we didn't require OR request. There was a misunderstanding here on behalf of the booking agency and myself as we only wanted to be booked in beside our friends in a Verandah Room. Spa we didn't need as too awkward& dangerous for us that's why we didn't look twice at this room but we only looked at the rooms along verandah. We were also charged full rate which was also a shock to me too. Not sure if Jenny the Asian lady really understood but very obliging at same time overall Helen the B'fast cook was welcoming with wonderful personality as was Carrie who was also excellent with good communication. B'fast was a little ordinary with no fresh or tinned fruit or prunes but what we got was enough. I do hope that other guests don't fall into this misunderstanding as we did.

a lovely but mixed package
The Barossa Valley is beautiful and very convenient to Adelaide. The "Retreat" itself could be fabulous but falls short of being as attractive and comfortable as it could be. The interior furnishings look tired or from another generation. The design/placement of the kitchen side shelving is an accident waiting to happen. It extends out so that passersby could knock their heads right into it. The afternoon tea and breakfast were lovely and the WIFI is great. So it's a mixed package.

3 Nächte wollten wir hier verbringen. Der Check-In erfolgte schnell. Fragen von unserer Seite wurden notdürftig beantwortet. Das Zimmer ist renovierungsbedürftig. Die Vorhänge im Badezimmer erinnern an Zuständen in den 70er Jahren. Das Bett ist durchgelegen und der Fernseher funktioniert nicht. Einen Tee wollten wir uns machen aber aufgrund des Zustands des Wasserkochers haben wir es sein lassen. Einen Blick ins Tal hat man vom Zimmer nicht aber wenn man auf einen kleinen Hügel des Anwesens geht, kann man einen schönen Sonnenuntergang genießen. Das Personal spricht teilweise englisch und war recht freundlich. Das Zimmer wurde weder aufgeräumt noch geputzt. Das Reinigungspersonal verstand leider kein Englisch. Sehr ärgerlich. Aufgrund einer kurzfristigen Reiseplanänderung wollten wir den Aufenthalt um eine Nacht verkürzen. Die Anfrage verlief schnell. Man verwies auf die Policy das wir trotzdem den vollen Preis bezahlen müssten. Das ist ok für uns gewesen aber das wir am Ende auch noch komisch belächelt wurden war dann genug für uns. Wir fuhren vorzeitig ab und das war auch gut so! Anscheinend profitieren die neuen Hoteleigentümer noch vom alten Besitzer, die sich anscheinend vielleicht liebevoller auch um das Anwesen gekümmert haben. Keine Weiterempfehlung für diese Unterkunft. Der Blick ist ok aber den kann man von vielen Plätzen im Barossa Valley haben.
