The road is still torn up thanks to Hurricane Harvey so there is not as much beach access where there aren't any homes.
$10 pass available at the convenience stores on the peninsula now. They've made it cleaner and added a port-a-john since we were last there. Pass seems to be good all calendar year.
You'll enjoy the ferry ride there and back. Watch for the dolphins.
